Last weekend was a long weekend for us - I had all these plans to finish up some works in progress, especially my Graham Scarf, so I can start on some bigger projects. Instead, I ran out of the Stroll Tonal I was using on Friday afternoon (completely my fault, nothing to do with Erica's wonderful pattern.) Luckily, Jenny is also working on a project in Goldrush & had some leftovers! But this meant that I wouldn't be able to work on it all weekend. And none of my other projects just seemed to appeal to me and I just fell into a blah mood. So I decided I needed cute quick projects to make me smile. I got out the brightest Swish colors in my stash and my E hook & had some fun! |

These are the big secret I've been keeping the last couple of months. Bob's youngest son, Jon, married Mara on August 18th in Stowe, Vermont. They will be living in Connecticut and have a particular affinity for owls. When I think of Vermont, Connecticut or the rest of the northeast, I think of cold winters and simple living. A perfect lifestyle for hot water bottles! When I found the Hoot Water Bottle Cozy pattern by Robyn Wade, it seemed like fate! I used Wool of the Andes Tweed in Marine and North Pole. I used little bits of Palette for the owl outlines and the branches. Notice how I have the owls' eyes open for the night (Marine) and closed for the day (North Pole). |

I discovered a stray ball of Brava Sport under my desk (oh, fancy that!) in Camel Heather just about the same time that I stumbled upon the Henry's Rabbit pattern on Ravelry. Well, I just couldn't say no to that delightful combination and in a thrice I had a plump little football-shaped body ready for some ears, eyes, nose and arms! |

All this hot weather hasn't stopped my needles, but it has put a size limit on what I'm working on. That means no blankets, sweaters or scarves until the temperature drops below 75! It's just too hot and sticky to be hauling around projects that large, let along having them in my lap as I work on them. NO thank you. Instead, I've been delving into my stash of quick projects. Over the last three days I started and finished a pair of Matilde Skår's Abra Alba Wrist Warmers, made a Teeny Tiny Knitted Toys white bunny to go with my little vegetable garden from two weeks ago and cast on some nice, plain black Capretta fingerless mittens from the Knitting Venture's Leap! pattern. And it's only Wednesday! |

I knit some wee veggies yesterday! I rediscovered Wendy Phillips' FREE Carrot and Raddish pattern tucked away in the middle of my (rather extensive) Ravelry queue and quickly knit one little radish and two cute carrots.I was so charmed by them that I couldn't help myself and added some beady eyes and stuck sewed some pin backs to them. Now I'm ready to venture out on the town, taking my little garden along with me! |

(photo from Endless Summer Braid pattern page) Remember when I was thinking about knitting a collection of headbands to use in Mexico instead of hats? Well, last week I found myself without any projects in progress. Except for a pair of socks, I didn’t have anything ready for me to knit.I scrounged around in our office yarn stash but I only came up with a couple of matching colors in anything I found appealing. It was exactly the incentive I needed to try some of the headbands in my Ravelry queue |

There's nothing better than finishing a long-term project. And for me, that's most of them - but they're not all knitting! This past week has been spent in the garden, reaping the rewards of the last year's work. But of course that's not all - I finally wove in the ends on my little Chroma sweater! |

All those baddies, small time criminals and other creatures of the night have a new mitten-wearing crime fighter in the neighborhood to keep an eye out for! My mittens are done! I was so excited about them that I wore them around the office while they were still damp from blocking today. I can't wait for some cooler weather in the fall so that I can break these guys out and wreak some vigilante justice. Or maybe just grab a cocoa down the street. Either way, I'm one happy lady today. Anyone else finish something they've been looking forward to today? |

Hubby isn't the only one with a new sweater, though his modeling is a little better: Our house isn't really lit well enough for portraits, so we went 8300 feet up into the Wallowa mountains to get a shot. The locals were duly impressed, I might add. It's still missing one thing, though. I need to snag it from him long enough to sew in a very appropriate label! |

I love my Galaxy Tab that I bought last autumn. It's the size of a Kindle but since I bought one as soon as they were available, there were no nice covers available. Just a utilitarian, black ugly thing. Ugly enough for me to take it off the Tab after just a week. The problem was that I wasn't comfortable toting the Tab around without a cover. As I looked at the leftover yarn from my Merryall Cardigan, I realized a felted cover in that lovely, Wool of the Andes Amethyst purple would be appealing. Bob just returned from a two-week business/golfing with friends trip. That meant I had evenings all to myself to watch through all six series of Jordan's Crossing. |
