A behind the scenes look at the development of our coveted sock yarn: Felici Fingering.
I have a deep love of hand knitted socks – I love to knit them and I love to wear them. I also have an addiction to pretty handpainted sock yarn, but it’s often difficult to find patterns that will play nicely with multicolored yarn. So we came up with entire book to show off our prettiest skeins – introducing Artful Arches.
Many knitters become frustrated when it comes to color selection. There are many reasons for this, but often the sheer volume of colors to choose from is the culprit. Add in the important task of choosing which yarn to use, and many knitters can become frozen in fear. It’s not hard to become quickly overwhelmed! Of course, we try to make it easy by pairing well-designed patterns with the most appropriate yarn – in a beautiful (at least in our opinion) color combination. But what if you don’t fall in love at first site? What if you like the pattern but don’t know how to choose new colors… How do you take the designer’s pick as inspiration for your own color choices? Let us give you some inspiration for playing with color.

Knitter’s will happily take any excuse to knit, and holidays are always a great excuse for any number of things, so here’s some Easter knitting inspiration.
One of my very favorite things about fiber arts is playing with color. My project is the canvas, and the yarn is the paint. The array of color combinations are truly infinite, and provide an endless source of creative joy as you create your unique color story.
We took two of our favorite patterns and reknit them in more colorful options featuring our Hawthorne and Chroma yarns.
In my humble opinion, handmade socks are the perfect project – they can be as simple or as complicated as you want them to be, they’re small and portable so they can be worked on anywhere, a typical pair of socks takes less than 100 grams of yarn and, best of all, the end product is something everyone can use. Now is the best time to get in on the fun – our fabulous Felici sock yarn is now on sale!
