Learn to Weave with Hannah

For me, summer is about trying new things. I like new stitch patterns and new yarns, but most of all I like new crafts in general. In the past, I’ve devoted summers to needle felting or dyeing. This summer, I’m learning to weave! I have a small rigid heddle loom and I can’t wait to make scarves and placemats and pillowcases for everyone I know. In my dreams, my Christmas list will be complete by the time the pumpkins are ripe. If you’re interested in learning to weave, we have a new tutorial available where Hannah weaves a gorgeous pillowcase out of Hawthorne Fingering Yarn! Learn how to warp, weave, and finish your project in this great video:

Toasty Toes – Socks for All Seasons

Socks are my addiction. Throughout the year, I always have a pair on my needles, no matter the weather. They are perfect to travel with, usually only take one skein of yarn, and can be worked on even in the heat of the summer when having a sweater or blanket on your lap would be miserable. Our Hawthorne yarn lines are my favorite; in fact, I can’t remember the last pair I knit that wasn’t in Hawthorne and now we highlight this beautiful yarn in our new collection Toasty Toes!

Every year we keep things fresh by focusing on a different aspect of the perfect spring wardrobe. This year we wanted to feature flattering silhouettes while making sure to include some unexpected detail, for added interest (both while knitting and wearing!). I absolutely loved spending the day at Cistus Nursery with our lovely models in these super versatile garments, so I thought I would take a moment to share my absolute favorites from Aura with you!
