The staff at Knit Picks loves the holidays because we get to share all our crafty expertise with friends and family from baking treats to knitting with steeks. We also know that ambition can get the best of us, therefore, this year we designed for our gift giving-loving customers a menagerie of Ready to Wrap Gifts! |

Book Sale is on! Do you love new knitting and crochet books? I love them. I find so much inspiration in books, whether they be collections of sweaters and accessories, books on new (or old) techniques, or books about...nonsense. I love making nonsense! By that, I mean mostly impractical items to keep or give away but that are pretty much guaranteed to bring a smile to the faces of people who see them. When I found in Twinkie Chan's newest book, "Crochet Abode a la Mode", I started making just that. It might be my favorite craft book ever, and so far, I've made four projects from it. Check them out! |

Have you downloaded the Jazz Age Crochet Washcloth pattern yet? I have, and like many people somewhat new to crochet, I was not very confident that I have what it takes to make one. If this sounds like you, fear no more! We have a new video tutorial that will teach you all the key steps to crocheting your very own Jazz Age Washcloth. So grab some yarn (any will do, though the pattern suggests CotLin and that's what Jenny uses for the video), a crochet hook (we use a 4mm hook, though gauge isn't so important for a washcloth), watch the tutorial, and complete your very own Jazz Age Washcloth! |

Meet Heidi: Newlywed, Art Director, and Avid Crocheter. Heidi loves color, and she loves using colorful yarns to crochet blankets for her friends and family. Heidi teaches our online course on our Crochet Beginner Blanket (pattern available for free, here). We thought you'd might like to know a bit more about her, so I asked her some questions, below! |

One of the most popular things on our site has been our free dishcloth patterns. For two years, each week, we featured a new dishcloth that so many people used to practice new stitches, develop their skills, and of course, wash their dishes! These free patterns will always be on our site, but for 2016, we're changing it up a bit. Every first Thursday of the month, we're releasing a home set ebook - patterns for your kitchen or your bathroom, or anywhere else you'd like display or use these lovely items! We're calling the series "Keeping Home", and January's set, called "Not Your Granny's Kitchen" is just so sweet! |

I've noticed on some of the message boards that a few of you have completed your handmade gifts for this holiday season. Me too! I made 3 things. I mean, I made a lot more, but in 3 different categories. Check it out! |

I love a good, oversized crochet blanket and nothing comes close to the satisfaction of crocheting with Billow on a large 9mm crochet hook. I also really love using Billow for blankets - it is super soft and I just adore the way its thick and think texture shines through with crochet. For my contribution to Tucked In, I used softly colored stripes of Billow against a neutral background to create a blanket that works for any season. |

The idea for Tucked In, a collection of crochet afghans designed by everyone here at the office had me reaching for four of my favorite Wool of the Andes Superwash colors and immediately crocheting up a storm of test swatches before we even finished outlining the concept! After the first hour, I knew I wanted to do a mixture of granny squares and granny stripes, all that was left to do was to work out how Brass Heather, White, Clarity and Cadet would work together throughout what would become the Squares + Stripes Blanket. |
