So have you seen our new Chroma yarn colors? We've had the samples in the office for several months and we've been dying to show them to you! I think these are my favorite batch of colors we've put out - both the neutrals and the super cheery brights. |

Designing this spa cloth was definitely one of those times where the yarn tells you what it wants to become. I had been swatching away with different stitch patterns and nothing was quite right for this delicate and pale shade of lilac. Finally, I stumbled on a simple v-stitch pattern that used the half double crochet and I knew that this was the perfect pattern to pair with such a sophisticated shade. |

A while back the Knit Picks team was given a challenge to create a pattern for the crocheted kitchen collection. And so the Classic Kitchen Crochet Collection was born. I chose to create the Crocheted Bread Warmer. Since I'm crazy about bread and there's nothing better than warm bread or rolls, it seemed like the perfect choice for me! There are two shape options, round or square, in Cotlin yarn. |

There was a rough list of projects we wanted to make when we first started brainstorming for the Classic Kitchen Crochet Pattern Collection and I knew right away that I wanted to try my hand at writing a pattern for the Crocheted Kitchen Rug. I had my own list of what I wanted to see in a kitchen rug including stripes, blocks of color and a super chunky yarn that would hold up to some heavy wear and a large number of trips through the washing machine. |

Last year we were discussing what sort of collections we would like to see and it was unanimous - we were all about crafting for the kitchen! And since most of us both knit & crochet, we decided we needed two collections, so we came up with Classic Kitchen Crochet and Retro Kitchen Knits. I'm particularly excited - all the patterns are by the Knit Picks staff, including me! |

Have I mentioned lately how much I love Billow for blankets of any shape and size? I am officially hooked! This is my second blanket that I've made with this bulky cotton and there are just so many reasons why I will inevitably continue to make more. Aside from Billow's supreme softness, I adore how the slight thick-and-thin nature of Billow translates in crocheted stitches. Plus, it's an excuse to whip out my hefty 6.5mm crochet hook! And that means lots of progress in short amounts of time, which is insanely satisfying when it comes to making blankets. |

I'm so happy to finally share my first contribution to our 52 Weeks of Dishcloths Knitalong - the Wavy Chevrons Dishcloth! My general rules for dishcloths are that the pattern has to work up quickly and be easy to memorize. And this simple crocheted chevron pattern fits the bill perfectly. |

I am usually a very strict one-project-at-a-time kind of a gal, but every once in a while a yarn is just so tempting and beautiful that it just happens to come home with me and goes directly onto my needles or hook. And that is precisely what happened with our latest special reserve yarn, Diadem DK. I was still in the middle of my last crochet cowl (in Diadem Fingering) but I just could not help myself! This yarn is so lovely with a wonderful drape, I knew it would be perfectly suited for something gift-worthy. And with the holidays sneaking up on me, I had just the excuse to break my one-project rule. |

Over the past year, I have been shifting my crafting energies from knitting everywhere, all the time to focus on expanding my crochet skills. And I have to say, I finally feel as though my efforts have been paying off! With practice, a few basic stitches eventually transformed into granny squares which grew into giant granny square blankets. So what has been captivating my crochet sensibilities lately? Textured stitches! Once I got the hang of how to work bobbles to my crochet, I couldn't help but learn a few more textures to add to my crochet repertoire. After bobbles, the next stitch on my list of things to tackle was the puff stitch. |
