Earth Day Inspiration

“Dear old world…You are very lovely, and I am glad to be alive in you.” -Lucy Maud Montgomery   It seems a little trite to “celebrate” Earth one day out of the year. While I’d like to think of it more as an everyday conscientious kinda thing,  we might as well join in the festivities, albeit a day late, and take a little time to shed light on ways you can make your fiber related pursuits as earth-friendly as possible.

New Book – Everyday Wraps

One of the hardest things about working on our exclusive collections is keeping them a secret for so long. I've been so excited about our new Everyday Wraps collection for months and now it's finally available for everyone! This gorgeous collection of 14 shawl patterns features yarn I have an abundance of - sock yarn! While I do love knitting socks, sometimes I want a project to show off the colors in a larger piece (and not one hidden by my shoes!).  With swaths of garter stitch with small doses of texture and simple lace patterns, this collection is a dream come true for me - and I think you will love it as well!

Hillary's headshot
Meet Hillary, new catalog director

Hi guys! My name is Hillary and I am the new Catalog Director at Knit Picks. I am so excited to dive deeper in the the world of knitting and look forward to interacting with more of you. My knitting journey started about 5 years ago. My mother-in-law taught me how to crochet and then how to knit. I envy people who have the patience to knit large and tedious projects. I love chunky knits because they knit up so fast and am a sucker for the pretty texture. When I am not designing or knitting I love painting, sewing, and woodworking. My husband and I are in the process of building a house so I always have my hands busy with some sort of building project ...

Knit Picks staff - Allison Drake
Meet Allison, new administrative assistant

Hi! I’m Allison, one of the newest additions to the Knit Picks team! I joined the Knit Picks team with the knitting experience equal to half of a busted washcloth that I never completed and lost at some point (don’t worry – I bring other skills to the team). I’ve always wanted to master knitting, but I wasn’t really sure where to start and the memory of my busted washcloth was a reminder of what I considered a failure to learn. Then one day I suddenly found myself accepting a job with the Knit Picks family, and this amazing team of supportive knitters made me realize that the silly excuses were just silly and I now ...

Knit Picks exclusive: Renew Collection
New for Spring: Renew Collection

“If you wear things you adore, you just look better” – Margherita Missoni Revel in the details of Renew, our latest collection of simple + sweet spring sweaters and tops! Everywhere I look, daffodils are displaying themselves proudly against the backdrop of dark and stormy skies. Cherry blossoms adorn the path along the riverbank in downtown PDX, and the air smells sweetly of freshly opened buds. It’s Spring, and it is glorious! While I live for the coziness of a good ole chunky oversized sweater, there’s nothing quite like feeling the returning warmth of the sun directly on my skin. The garments of Renew are similar to what I envision when I try to conceptualize my dream Spring wardrobe. Below are some of my very favorite pieces ...
