You might say we have kitties on the brain here at Knit Picks. All. The. Time. That being said, it’s no surprise there has been an influx of Mini Kitty Poufs floating around the office as of late. Both our Merchandising Manager Alexis and myself recently made this project with Mighty Stitch Super Bulky yarns. It’s a super quick & EASY project that can be completed in an hour or so, depending on how fast your needles move. I did not have any polyester fill to stuff my pouf with, but I realized that scrap yarn (which I had way too much of) makes an excellent substitute and gives the kitty some extra heft, much like my actual cat, ... |

If you know me, you know I love big yarn! That's why I was so excited when we decided to take our already sizeable super bulky yarn, Tuff Puff, and make it EVEN BIGGER! The result is Super Tuff Puff, a gigundo (a technical term) yarn that gets an astonishing 1.5 stitches to the inch, and it's perfect for projects with strong visual punch. Simple stitch patterns really stand out in it, and it knits up so fast it's a bit dizzying. |

Everybody, I'm more excited than a kid on Christmas morning to introduce you to our newest yarn line. It's a yarn I have wanted us to carry for ages, because the softness, lightness, and warmth are just incredible. |

Our new Knits for Everybody collection couldn't have come at a better time! My sister is about to have a baby in November which means that I immediately threw out my old queue of knitting projects and cast on for every baby project I could think of. Now, it's been a long time since I've been around a baby and it's hard to remember how absolutely teeny tiny they are when they're brand new. Instead of winging it and just guesstimating the size of a newborn baby, I turned to Knits for Everybody to help me find just the right size! |

Over the next few weeks, we'll be celebrating the release of our new collection "Knits for Everybody" by seeing how members of the Knit Picks staff have used these basic patterns to create something truly unique. This week, we're highlighting Knit Picks Graphic Designer Emily, who made adult mittens in a unique striped colorway! Here are the details, from Emily: I'll happily admit it: I'm a stripe addict. I own at least nine striped shirts, a pair of striped shoes, tank tops, shorts, dresses, you name it. I'm currently knitting a striped sweater AND cowl with stripes. I can't get enough! To me, stripes are the perfect design, with their endless possibilities and classic good looks. |

Book Sale is on! Do you love new knitting and crochet books? I love them. I find so much inspiration in books, whether they be collections of sweaters and accessories, books on new (or old) techniques, or books about...nonsense. I love making nonsense! By that, I mean mostly impractical items to keep or give away but that are pretty much guaranteed to bring a smile to the faces of people who see them. When I found in Twinkie Chan's newest book, "Crochet Abode a la Mode", I started making just that. It might be my favorite craft book ever, and so far, I've made four projects from it. Check them out! |
