Podcast 296 – Adventure Awaits and Muse

One of the innumerable things that we love about knitting is as a means to discover the world around us. Our newest yarn and knitting pattern collection are opportunities to take this both figuratively and literally. The collection, Adventure Awaits, is selection of rugged, practical projects to make all of your outdoor explorations easier, while newly introduced yarn, Muse, lets us bring the fiber mills and dye shops of Japan directly to you.

To start, Stacey talks with Erica about Adventure Awaits to explore this new collection and the fine and functional knits and yarns it showcases.

After that, Knit Picks Vice President Alison joins Daniel to enthuse about the fabulous fiber and amazing colorways of Muse Hand Painted and Muse Hand Painted Tonal.

Introducing Muse – Hand Painted and Tonal Yarns

We are SO excited to introduce our newest hand painted yarn, Muse! Worsted weight, hand painted, Merino wool, and machine washable; it checks a lot of boxes, both for our resident yarn nerds and from our most common customer requests. Between the multicolor masterpieces of Hand Painted and sophisticated solids-plus of Tonal, there are lots of ways to enjoy this brilliant and incredibly satisfying yarn.

Our most dedicated customers will remember a smattering of Special Reserve yarns that we introduced at the end of last year that came from Japan. Although those were the first Japanese yarns that we carried, Muse is actually the realization of our newest fiber partnership and our first exclusive collaboration with a Japanese mill, made to our specifications and designs. We’ve been eagerly anticipating showing …

Staff Project: Simply Wool Docklight Sweater

Docklight Sweater in Simply Wool Worsted

I loved knitting with the springy, wooly goodness of Simply Wool for the first time! I’m so used to Wool of the Andes Superwash as my go-to worsted weight yarn but I’m truely a convert to our new line. I always reach for natural, undyed wools before other colors and I love all the browns and greys in these happy hanks. Simply Wool has all the squish of my favorite wools without the scratchiness! Each stitch felt so good that I actually regret how quickly this project worked up! In case you weren’t sure, I want to re-emphasize that I knit a worsted wool sweater in Portland during one of our hottest summers and loved every minute. Seriously. Get thee to some Simply Wool, you won’t regret it.
