Bouquets are beautiful, but they wilt and wither away after a few days. Chocolate lasts minutes before the box is empty and cards are everywhere during the holidays. My favorite gifts to give/receive are ones that last a little longer and create new experiences with their use. Yarn for a new project, a set of brand new needles or a collection of patterns to browse and work on over the next year will be lasting memories just as the act of making a present for someone brings them to mind constantly. My first pick is one of our Beginner Blanket Kits! Six different Preciosa color palettes (plus a cute tote) go with our beginner friendly, swoon-worthy knit and crochet blanket patterns. |

Oh, Preciosa! I have not seen my coworkers squeal in such unison as they did when this yarn arrived in the office. Its single ply softness makes it an absolute JOY to craft with, and its gorgeous colors make your imagination (as well as your project queue) go wild. The greatest thing that happened when our staff grabbed some skeins: they cast on for such a diverse range of projects. From sweaters to stuffed animals, check out what we made! |

One of the things I love about our new pattern collection, Northwoods (and there are so many things), is how sophisticated and polished all the project are, while still being down-to-earth. They're all just so wearable, you know? And the cable stitches add a lot of interest without being overwhelming to knit. Today, I'm highlighting a couple of my favorite patterns from the collection, with some exclusive images from the photo shoot that I couldn't fit into the book. |

One really fun task I did this year was creating new yarn colorways. We started with Stroll Tonal, a super soft, washable treat for the feet. As a team, we decided on a set of new colorways, and then I mocked up our visions in my design program to send to our manufacturer. Lest you be fooled by the ostensibly simple process of picking colors, let me bring to your attention how surprisingly difficult it is to find a range of yellows that don’t turn either rusty brown or baby custard yellow at some point – or choosing greens that don’t morph into an enchanting snot hue. I absolutely LOVE rosewood needles - I've had various pairs over the years and they're always the ones I've reached for first for projects. They just feel so nice in my hand - slick, light, but sturdy. So I've been begging for us to release a set since I started here...and my dreams have now come true! |

Have you seen our new (utterly adorable!) Sheep Greeting Cards yet? They're here just in time for sending thoughtful "thank you's" or seasons greetings to everyone on your list! This was by far my most favorite photo shoot research and go on and I thought I'd take a moment to show you a few of the cute photos that we didn't use for the cards and tell you a little bit about the Cedar Haven Farm. |

Well, the autumnal equinox was last week and I could feel its effects right away. It was like the earth just decided to skip any transitional weather and cut to the chase. But that's ok with me, because I love fall! I'm ready for snuggling under layers of blankets, resting on a cloud of lovely pillows, and putting down rugs to warm my feet from the hardwood floors in my apartment. Luckily our newest pattern collection, Creature Comforts, is all about warmth and coziness. |

Diadem DK was a very special and very limited edition yarn that first made its appearance during last year's epic Cyber Monday sale. The metallic hues were incredible and the plush DK weight of this alpaca silk yarn was absolutely lovely - which is why we are so happy to see this yarn back in an array of saturated solids inspired by prized jewels and gemstones. |
