Inspired by Stacey's finishing spree, I had her snap a picture of my recently finished project - the Radian Yoke by Wendy Bernard! As soon as I came across this pattern in the summer issue of Knit Scene, I knew I had to make it right away. The pattern called for a linen blend and immediately, I thought of CotLin. Usually, I am slow and methodical when it comes to picking a project. I will think about a pattern for a week or two, and then if it feels right - I move onto finding the perfect yarn. Finally, I pick out a color, which is always the hardest part. As you can probably tell, this makes my normal timeline for finding a project to starting an actual project quite drawn out. So, when everything fell right into place as I saw the Radian Yoke, I knew I just had to go with it! |

This contest is now closed. Thank you very much to everyone who participated! To find out who won, click here: WINNER New techniques, especially different stitches, can be so fun to learn! However, if you are new to stitch dictionaries - sifting through all of those instructions can seem a bit daunting, especially when the stitch uses an unfamiliar abbriviation or references an obscure technique. Additionally, everyone learns at a different pace and in different ways. This is why having technique and reference videos is so important, it really makes learning accessible to a wider range of crafters. This is why I am so happy to say we are giving away one copy of the DVD, "Stitch Heaven Salutes Barbara Walker!" The best part? It is signed by Barbara Walker! |

With the weather finally warming up here in the Pacific Northwest, knitting lace have been on everyone’s mind here at the office. On a recent trip, Kelley was fortunate enough to be sitting next to a fellow knitter on the plane back to Portland. She got the opportunity to share her love of knitting with her new knitting pal and Kelley recaps her reasons to knit lace as well as why new knitters shouldn’t be afraid to tackle lace projects. Next up, Kelley presents three different books on lace – the first being The Very Easy Guide to Lace Knitting by Lynne Watterson, a perfect guide for knitters new to lace. For intermediate knitters looking to take their lace knitting in a new direction, Kelley talks about The Art of Knitted Lace, which features a stunning collection of garments that show off lace patterns by a number of designers. As for experienced and adventurous lace knitters, Kelley recommends Wrapped in ... |

Yes, yes – I know these are washclothes but the pattern is also known as a wonderfully simple design for baby blankets. The key is that you start at one corner. You can choose how many rows you knit to make the size anything from a washcloth to a full-sized afghan. Perfect for my weekend knitting. Here’s the story. A friend sent me an e-mail this morning. A friend of hers was just blessed with her first grandchild. Her friend is the knitter of the family but she is having a few health issues that make it impossible for her to knit anything. My friend was wondering if I would mind knitting up something for the new baby as a representative of his grandmother’s best wishes. Hah! Bob and I are visiting his son in Seattle this weekend. Lots of knitting time! I can’t think of a ... |

So, as you may know, the Knit Picks offices are in Vancouver WA but our distrubution center is located in Columbus OH - shipping from a more centralized location helps keep our shipping costs down! But many of us who work in in WA have never gotten a chance to see the warehouse or meet the folks out there. When we went out to TNNA we finally got that opportunity! The warehouse staff not only handle all the Knit Picks orders, but also the ones from our sister companies, Connecting Threads and Artist Club. It's a big place! |

What an amazingly fun time we had this past World Wide Knit in Public Week. If you were playing along on our blog, we thank you very much! We have gone through our comment logs and found our winners. Monday's winner was Karen Aguilar Tuesday's winner was Louise Wednesday's winner was Eleanor and Thursday's winner was Heather Thorn We had so much fun reading through everyone's guesses. You folks are smart! Next year, we'll have to make the challenges a little tougher. We will be sending our winners an email shortly to verify information. Once we hear back, they will get their gift cards! If you missed any of Kerin's adventures, here are the pictures from her travels. They're sure to make you chuckle! |

Last weekend, several of us from the office flew out to Ohio to go to the The National NeedleArts Association (TNNA) Market. If you are not familiar with TNNA, this is an industry-only event for wholesale vendors to show off their wares. Alison & Angela attended the one in Long Beach, CA back in January and had a great response, so for the market in Columbus OH, we sent out more people and had a bigger booth! |

In yesterday’s picture, did you happen to notice anything special about Kerin’s outfit? That’s right, she was wearing her Norwegian-inspired sweater! Today, Kerin is happily knitting away in the snowy Norwegian Fjords, bundled up in her beautiful sweater and that very nice hat! Are those alpacas? We wonder where she could be off to tomorrow… Remember, use hints from this picture to guess where Kerin will be tomorrow. Look closely because this one’s a little tough. If you’re the first person to guess correctly, you’ll win a $5 gift card! Your comments must be posted before 8AM PST tomorrow in order for them to count. *Please note, you must have a US or Canadian address to win. |

Did you guess correctly? If you missed our post yesterday, we are having a contest to see if you can guess where Kerin is knitting around the world in celebration of World Wide Knit In Public Week. Yesterday’s post showed a picture of Kerin’s trunk that contained a fishing vest. Where better to fish than in Alaska’s beautiful rivers. As you may have seen in our recent interview with Kerin, she LOVES to knit while she fishes. Looks like she caught a big fish (err, sock) this time! Now remember, something in this picture is a hint for where Kerin will be tomorrow. Post where you think she’ll be in the comments before 8AM PST tomorrow and if you’re the first one to get it right, you’ll win a $5 gift card to Knit Picks! Good luck! |

In yesterday’s post, you might have noticed that Kerin was wearing an amazing hat with little llamas along the top. If you guessed that she would be in Peru, you guessed right! While Kerin knits happily away amongst the friendly Alpacas in Peru, she daydreams of her next location. My goodness, her Fair Isle sweater is just lovely! Can you guess where she’ll be next? If you have any ideas, be sure to post them in the comments before 8AM PST tomorrow morning for your chance to win a $5 gift card to Knit Picks! *To enter, you must have a US or Canada mailing address. |
