Sometimes I marvel at the craft world - about how many people are knitting, how many more people want to learn, and about how many amazing collections of knitwear and crochet designs there are in the world. Will my queue ever get manageable? Will I ever think to myself, "I haven't seen anything lately I really want to make"? Probably not. So many books cross my desk here at Knit Picks, and so many of them are so striking, offering crafters a chance to make something truly breathtaking. With all books currently at 40% off in our book sale, I thought I'd highlight 3 books that I thought are really something special. |

Our book sale is here again! With 40% all titles, it's really hard to pass up the opportunity to browse new titles, or add a book you've been eyeing for while, to your shopping cart. Alison's sea creatures have been eliciting such a great reaction both online and in the office, that I thought I'd present some of our favorite books for knitted and crocheted toys and dolls. Have a look! You might just see something (someone?) you just have to make. |

One of the things I love about our new pattern collection, Northwoods (and there are so many things), is how sophisticated and polished all the project are, while still being down-to-earth. They're all just so wearable, you know? And the cable stitches add a lot of interest without being overwhelming to knit. Today, I'm highlighting a couple of my favorite patterns from the collection, with some exclusive images from the photo shoot that I couldn't fit into the book. |

New American Knits takes the slim, functional silhouettes from American sportswear genre and spices them up with lovely details inspired by famous American artists. I'm utterly smitten with each of the projects in this collection, starting with the absolutely gorgeous Nevelson Lace Pullover featured above. The color palette, photography and unexpectedly modern details has me reaching for my needles and contemplating another attempt at set in sleeves just so that I can have a few of these pieces in my growing knitwear collection. |

You know what's really exciting to me, in knitwear? Not so much texture, or lace, or fancy techniques. No, what really makes me want to cast on is a good, solid basic with lots of stockinette. Maybe it's the minimalist in me that just wants a lovely blank canvas in whatever color I desire, or maybe I'm too fond of mindless knitting while watching TV or hanging out with friends, but give me a classic silhouette and next to no frills and I'm happier than a pig in mud (if pigs knit). |

I'm so glad that the Under 100 Knit Collection is finally out! Now that it's done (and I don't have to keep track of tiny tags and missing pairs of things) I can take a breath and really appreciate a few of the projects in this collection! |

I'm pretty sure that you could hear my exclamations from SPACE when we got our first copy of Anna Hrachovec's new book "Huge & Huggable Mochimochi". A giant stuffed tooth brush and tooth paste tube? YES PLEASE. An enormous pink squid driving a car?? You had me at Squidpocalypse. Page after page of incredibly cute knits had me clapping my hands and giggling with delight until we reached the page with Roland the rolly bug lounging in his folding chair. At this point, my brain exploded and I had to restrain myself from ripping the book out of Stacey's hands and making a copy of the pattern to take home over the weekend so that I could have my very own Roland ASAP. |
