“Dear old world…You are very lovely, and I am glad to be alive in you.”
-Lucy Maud Montgomery
It seems a little trite to “celebrate” Earth one day out of the year. While I’d like to think of it more as an everyday conscientious kinda thing, we might as well join in the festivities, albeit a day late, and take a little time to shed light on ways you can make your fiber related pursuits as earth-friendly as possible.

Happy Friday! Forgive our giddiness around the KP office today but we’re so very happy to have some beautiful sunny weather after quite a few weeks of grey skies. The latest free pattern in our Scrub-A-Dub Club matches our mood – check out the Lemon Drop Dishcloth.

Raise your hand if your travel itineraries start with stops that involve yarn, fabric, thread, or anything tangentially related to crafting? Oh man, me too! Last summer my husband and I traveled to both the island of Bornholm and Copenhagen for ten days. Before I penciled in any castles, gardens or museums, I had a map of every craft-adjacent institution in both places first. Tag along for my list of places I recommend stopping and the places I wish we’d been able to see!
Springtime brings the need for new gifts for upcoming baby showers(at least in my case). For all new mothers, the newest free pattern in our Scrub-A-Dub Club is soft enough for the most sensitive of skin – check out the Butterfly Baby Cloth.

The most recent Knit Picks travel adventure brought us to wool-hungry Hartford, Connecticut for Stitches United. Like the proverbial fish-smelling guest, Winter lingered over the New England city as the Knit Picks team flogged our fiber wares to the Yankee yarn-lovers. Show veteran Stacey, our purchaser Alexis, and Knit Picks’ brand new IDP Coordinator Allison Drake join us to share their experience on the road.
Enjoy!

One of the hardest things about working on our exclusive collections is keeping them a secret for so long. I’ve been so excited about our new Everyday Wraps collection for months and now it’s finally available for everyone!
This gorgeous collection of 14 shawl patterns features yarn I have an abundance of – sock yarn! While I do love knitting socks, sometimes I want a project to show off the colors in a larger piece (and not one hidden by my shoes!). With swaths of garter stitch with small doses of texture and simple lace patterns, this collection is a dream come true for me – and I think you will love it as well!

Hi guys! My name is Hillary and I am the new Catalog Director at Knit Picks. I am so excited to dive deeper in the the world of knitting and look forward to interacting with more of you.
My knitting journey started about 5 years ago. My mother-in-law taught me how to crochet and then how to knit. I envy people who have the patience to knit large and tedious projects. I love chunky knits because they knit up so fast and am a sucker for the pretty texture.
When I am not designing or knitting I love painting, sewing, and woodworking. My husband and I are in the process of building a house so I always have my hands busy with some sort of building project too!
I can’t …
Hi! I’m Allison, one of the newest additions to the Knit Picks team!
I joined the Knit Picks team with the knitting experience equal to half of a busted washcloth that I never completed and lost at some point (don’t worry – I bring other skills to the team). I’ve always wanted to master knitting, but I wasn’t really sure where to start and the memory of my busted washcloth was a reminder of what I considered a failure to learn.
Then one day I suddenly found myself accepting a job with the Knit Picks family, and this amazing team of supportive knitters made me realize that the silly excuses were just silly and I now had every …
Welcome to April – and no fooling! With the Easter holiday landing today, we thought our new calendar would make you smile all month long.
Our brand new Pom Poms reminded us of cute little bunny tails (they’re so fluffy!) and we just love the range of colors. We thought this would be a sweet image to remind us of the first full month of Spring all April long.
