During this really stressful year, I’ve rediscovered my love of The Sims, a game I played a lot several years back but hadn’t been keeping up with. I downloaded it on a rainy day in April and fell in love with it all over again—if I can’t go out, at least my little Sims can. In a funny bit of timing, a brand new game pack was released in July that was right up my alley—Nifty Knitting! For those unfamiliar with the game, The Sims is a life simulation video game, first created 20 years ago. You can create little people (Sims) to direct around, giving them jobs and ... |

I’ve long been a big fan of Wool of the Andes worsted weight yarn! It’s a fantastic basic wool, and you can now grab a 10-pack for a limited time only, either in one of our curated multi-color choices, or in all the same color, perfect for a sweater! I’ve only been working at Knit Picks for a few months, but I was designing knits for many years before I started here, and I’ve used this fantastic basic wool with its enormous variety of color options in multiple design projects over the years. The first time I used it was for my original stripy Haka hat, way back in 2010, held triple stranded for a super-bulky weight; I ... |

“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.” – Edith Sitwell It’s no secret that we love a good listicle. When the opportunity presents itself to write about our favorite things, we jump on it. Traditions vary for those of us here at Knit Picks HQ, but the one common thread is that for each of us, this time of year offers a chance to indulge in the nostalgic traditions each of us holds dear. Whether it be watching Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas on repeat or imbibing a classy holiday cocktail or ... |

Each decade provides its own iconic color palette that when you see it years later, it gives you that fantastic nostalgia of a time that seemed so awesome. Like a few of us here in the office, I’m a child of the 80s (and a little bit 90s), and the color palette that throws me back into my childhood in California is definitely neon. |

We love luxurious Capretta! What is not to love? The superbly soft cashmere yarn is perfect for special projects, small accessories or if you really want to treat yourself, a sweater or cute cardi. Now it is perfect for socks because Capretta now comes in SUPERWASH! Capretta is Capra’s fingering weight sibling and is a blend of 80% Fine Merino/10% Cashmere/10% Nylon. The addition of nylon makes it ideal for super soft socks but it’s also well suited for fine-gauge knits like scarves, cowls, mitts and even lightweight yet warm cardigans. It is now available in 15 new, sophisticated colors. In honor of the new color palette, I put together some fall color inspiration below! Library Color Palette This gorgeous shot of ... |

Unofficially touted as being the most soothing fiber to live in, cotton speaks to our longing for next-to-skin comfort. That being said, we couldn’t think of a better way to send off summer (and it’s triple digit temps) with a huge cotton yarn sale! If you’re not familiar with the plethora of cotton yarns that we offer, allow me to list them for you below: Dishie, CotLin, Comfy, Billow, Shine, Lindy Chain, Color Mist, Curio, Simply Cotton Organic Here are just some of the projects that we would make with our hypothetical cotton stash: Snuggle-worthy Blankets |

You might say we have kitties on the brain here at Knit Picks. All. The. Time. That being said, it’s no surprise there has been an influx of Mini Kitty Poufs floating around the office as of late. Both our Merchandising Manager Alexis and myself recently made this project with Mighty Stitch Super Bulky yarns. It’s a super quick & EASY project that can be completed in an hour or so, depending on how fast your needles move. I did not have any polyester fill to stuff my pouf with, but I realized that scrap yarn (which I had way too much of) makes an excellent substitute and gives the kitty some extra heft, much like ... |
