Hey everybody! My name is Morgan, and I am incredibly excited to be joining the Knit Picks team as the digital graphic designer. You want emails? I got you. You want web graphics? Coming right up. You want snacks? Go get some! (I haven’t figured out how to deliver those digitally yet. But if I could, I promise I would. The first thing you should know about me is that I love snacks.) I’m originally from Colorado, but moved to Oregon about 5 years ago. I have loved being out here, and I feel incredibly lucky to call such a neat place home. I have an Australian Shepherd named Roo, and I am quite fond of the little fluff ball. Look at her. ... |

New year, who dis? Just kidding. We know it’s you, our beloved blog readers! It’s the beginning of a new year, which of course means tending to the often maligned task of committing to a resolution of some sort. We’ve made it easy on ourselves and made our resolutions knitting/crocheting/sewing/organizing related, so our chances of completion are pretty good. Here’s what we have our sights set on for 2019: |

We have recently had some staff changes here at the Knit Picks office. It took a few months to find just the right person, but we are happy to introduce. . .me! I’m Daniel, and I am the new Administrative Assistant for Knit Picks. I’ll be around to do the fiddly, little things that no one else has the time (or inclination) for. In addition, I am the new Coordinator for our Independent Designer Partnership Program, so if you are one of our Independent Designers (or would like to be!) you’ll be working with me. |

In celebration of our new (free!) downloadable e-booklet "Back to School Knits", I asked the team here at Knit Picks to bring me their favorite school photos. I love school photos - they're moments that last forever, and don't the clothes you wear in them just bring you right back to that age? Here we are, in all our glory: From the top: Jenny, our Marketing Director in her first school photo living in this country!, Alison, our fearless leader, in her favorite apple dress, Kim, our Design Director, whose freckles are killing me, Holly (that's me!) - Can you tell it was the 80s? I loved Dorothy Hamill and Annie, passionately, Hannah, our Catalog Director - school photos in the Northwest involved flower baskets! and Emily, our Graphic Designer. Those sleeves! Truly, a classic. We all agreed on 2 things: We all look the same now as we did back in the day. There's just something in your features that just never changes. It makes me so intrigued as to what my children will look like when they grow up! Also, whether you grew up in the 60s, 70s, 80s, or 90s, the bowl haircut is always in fashion. Always. Do you have any great stories of school photo day? Do tell in comments! |

Today was a good day. We received a visit from the Snuggle Express! A few weeks ago, I spotted a program that the Oregon Humane Society was doing this holiday season - for a donation to OHS, offices could receive a visit from some adoptable puppies & kittens for some snuggle time! I was so excited and got it all set up for our office - and we received a visit from 3 puppies & 2 kittens today! |

A very long time ago I made an attempt to learn to tat. I'm typically a self-taught crafter, and the internet wasn't around at that time. Needless to say, I gave up almost as quickly as I started! Moving forward to 2 weeks ago, (yes, only two weeks!!!) I gave needle tatting a try. Now there are great books and you-tube videos to help you learn. So along with those sources and a tatting needle, I found it so quick to pick up! I know there are shuttle tatting people and there are needle tatting people. I now fall in the latter group. |

Well, I’m finally letting the cat out of the bag. Or letting the needles out of the...cherry red PVC backpack? Anyway, welcome to my shame! I’ve been secretly teaching myself to knit for a couple of weeks and I wouldn’t say it’s going well. You may remember me as the resident spirited/mediocre crocheter with questionable tastes; don’t worry, I’m definitely retaining that title as well. However, I’ve surprised myself with an ever-inching desire to knit, even though I’d been resolute on these matters in the past. I’m keen on blaming my coworkers, who constantly parade beautiful knit projects around the office. But in total honesty, the turning point came when my own harassing curiosity met with a pair of Harmony needles in the office free-box. GAME OVER. Not even a lack of tools could be my excuse. |
