We hear it's been snowing on the East Coast these days, so why not talk about Christmas? Around New Years this year, I started knitting a project I plan to work on throughout the year. It's Just Crafty Enough's Mitten Garland Advent Calendar (Ravelry link) and I'm making mine in Preciosa Fingering Yarn in Bare, Gladiola, Stormy, Stormy, and Bonsai. I started by knitting four or five mittens right after Christmas, and then I realized I had twenty more months to complete the project, so I put it away for a while. The crazy thing is, I started to miss it! So after I finished a sweater for my daughter, I took the mittens back out again. So it has gone, for the past few months: I fill in with a couple mittens here or there, when I finish a larger project and don't quite want to cast on for another, right away. There are a few tools I've picked up that sure have helped move things right along. Want to know what they are? They might just help you in small knitting projects you might be doing, this summer. |

One of our most popular dishcloth patterns is the Starflower Dishcloth. Simple knit front/back increases make the middle work up fast. The edging, knit in a simple lace pattern, is attached as you work around the dishcloth's perimeter. The result is a sweet little dishcloth that's as cute as it is practical. This month we've released a video tutorial, taking you through tips and tricks to complete your very own Starflower Dishcloth. |

Let's talk about sock knitting, shall we? I'm not one to be constantly knitting socks, but occasionally I get so excited about a pattern that I'll knit up a pair or two quickly, only to return to sock knitting a couple of years later. I also love sock yarn. I love it for everything from cardigans to baby items to socks, of course! With our sock yarn sale going on until tomorrow (up to 40% off sock yarns!) it's a great time to stock up on your favorites. So let's discuss some great Knit Picks items, related to socks, shall we? |

Hear that? That's the sound of beautiful blush pinks and pale blues calling to you for your next project! The 2016 Pantone colors are simply lovely and we have all the yarn you need to satisfy your color craving. Step 1: Take a moment to browse our yarns to find your favorite Pantone pinks and blues! Billow in Tea Rose and Palette in Blush are some of my favorite pale pinks while to Aloft in Sky and Wool of the Andes Clarity are the perfect pale blues but almost every yarn line has a color (or five!) that fit right in to this palette. |

Though I have loved many Knit Picks yarns over the course of my recent project making, Preciosa Fingering Tonal Yarn might perhaps be my all-time favorite. The colors are spectacular, the softness is unmatched, and projects made in this yarn come out looking so very dreamy. For a while, I swore off fingering weight projects. I just wasn't getting through them efficiently, and they would often be left in my knitting basket, as works in progress, for months and months. Preciosa Tonal Fingering Yarn is bringing me back to this yarn weight single handedly (or single ply-edly? haha). Here are some staff projects we've recently completed, if you'd like to see. |
