I cannot believe that my first crochet project started with this... |

I only have 24 more blocks to make for the outside band! Remember, this is the pattern I am following from 200 Crochet Blocks by Jan Eaton. |

Learning to crochet has actually been pretty fun. I made a little goldfish cat toy that I saw on Ralvery and thought it might look good made in our Canary Cotlin yarn. It was so fast to learn how to crochet. After looking though a few books and watching crochet video tutorials, I managed to pick up the single, double, and half double crochet stitches pretty quick. I was able to crochet the body of the goldfish on the plane to Palm Springs. |

I'm being rather slow on this project - too many other things going on... but this last weekend I really dug in and got some work done on it... |

As an absolute beginning crocheter, I have a lot to learn. This weekend I learned that I need to darn in my yarn ends as I finish each block. Otherwise, I will spend many mind-numbing hours threading the needle, weaving the yarn and cutting the yarn. Threading the needle, weaving the yarn and cutting the yarn. Threading the needle, weaving the yarn and cutting the yarn. All without the assistance of football!! Well, American football. There was plenty of soccer so I guess I should be glad there was something interesting to watch. |

I am absolutely thrilled with my crochet progress but I have to admit that I had to make the center square five times! It has been thirty years since I had to learn how to read a pattern and make new stitches! It's been a good mental exercise. I've been pleased with how comfortable the Soft Touch crochet hook is to hold for hours. |

I'm hooked! Yes, pun intended! Over the last few months, we have had dozens of enticing crochet books arriving from a variety of publishers. At first I absolutely refused to learn to crochet. I already had a huge queue of knitting projects! And, spinning!! But, the onslaught of inspiration just kept coming. |

Hi, I’m Georgianna. I have worked in customer service here for the last 9 1/2 years so I may have spoken to many of you when you call in. I taught myself to crochet more than 30 years ago because I wanted to make blankets for my daughters and then other things. I really enjoyed learning to do thread crochet. I have been having fun learning this pattern because it had a different way of making add on stitches. So far I am still in the beginning half of the pattern and am finding it interesting because I have never made this type of a shawl before. I am looking forward to completing it and starting another one as gift for one of my daughters. |

My quick baby blanket project is finished! I saw a cluster of a few pastel shades of Simply Cotton Sport together in the office and thought they'd make a great baby blanket. My first crochet attempt is one of my favorite blankets on our couch, so I decided to use the same basic oversized granny square but change up the colors and stripe sequence. |
