Projects have been flying off my needles lately! Between puttering in the garden and blowing through stacks of library books I've been clickty-clacking my needles together on some light weight projects, perfect for sunnier days. First up on my summer list was Mari Chiba's Chevron Lace Tank pattern from the In Bloom collection. |

Last year we were discussing what sort of collections we would like to see and it was unanimous - we were all about crafting for the kitchen! And since most of us both knit & crochet, we decided we needed two collections, so we came up with Classic Kitchen Crochet and Retro Kitchen Knits. I'm particularly excited - all the patterns are by the Knit Picks staff, including me! |

Spring looks like it's here, but the weather still isn't convinced. T-shirts are still relegated to storage and my sweater collection is in full rotation, I've even been double layering sweaters outside to do yard work. Cold days also means a cold house where hand washed things take a whole week to air dry (if I'm lucky) so I found myself contemplating a range of cheap polar fleece jackets to wear while I dig up bushes and mix compost into my soon-to-be dye garden in the back yard. I didn't see anything I liked, but I did see a bag of Brava Worsted in Peacock that looked pretty enticing so I gave in to my knitting needles and decided to cast on the Worsted Crewneck from Worsted Basics pattern collection. |

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending the Madrona Fiber Arts Winter Retreat in Tacoma, WA. Hundreds of fiber enthusiasts attended classes in knitting, spinning, weaving, as well as other great subjects. There also was a great market place that was hard to resist! My focus that weekend was Intarsia and Fair Isle knitting. My first class was a 3-hour class, "Learning to Love Intarsia" with Sally Melville. I have been so intimidated with Intarsia. This class definitely changed my mind! Here's the swatch I created. |

I'm so glad that the Under 100 Knit Collection is finally out! Now that it's done (and I don't have to keep track of tiny tags and missing pairs of things) I can take a breath and really appreciate a few of the projects in this collection! |

This year, my wish list is full of fibery goodies. But what I would really love (and I think just about any spinner would agree!), is the Fleece and Fiber Sourcebook! This book is so much more than just a spinning how-to. Beautiful imagery and an incredible wealth of information await inside. With this book as your guide, you'll learn not only how to spin, but why, and what to spin for what purpose. |

I've always wanted knitwear that looks stellar in an ancient fort and a modern urban setting. And now we have it. Let me introduce our Swish 2013 Collection, which combines functional designs with classic cables and fine textures. What I love most about this 6-pattern collection is the soft- washable wool yarn, paired with monochromatic, simple designs that bring visual interest through beautiful detailing. |
