TNNA: Interview with Doris Chan

One of the best parts of TNNA was being around so many crafty people and sharing in this amazing community of smart, talented knitters and crochets. While we were there, we were able enough to meet so many of the designers involved with the Independant Design Program. And lucky for us, we got the opportunity to meet Doris Chan, author of Crochet Lace Innovations! Not only is Doris a talented crochet designer, but she is also one of the contributors to the pattern, Pam’s Comfort Cables, which is available through the IDP program.

Pam’s Comfort Cables exudes the kindess and genorosity of crafters when banding together to help others in a time of need. The pattern for Pam’s Comfort Cables came about to fight breast cancer while donating all of the proceeds directly to Pam. Over twenty friends and designers came together to create this crocheted afghan using the colors
she loves: grays and silver, and pink
which represents her fight with breast cancer. The participating designers made sure to incorporate Pam’s favorite stitch design – cables – into each of the squares.
And no matter how you stitch together Pam’s Comfort Cables, it will be sure to pass along the strength, love and hope that went into creating it.

Doris Chan was kind enough to take a few minutes to chat with Stacey about this wonderful pattern. To date, Knit Picks has been able to pass along over $500 in proceeds, all of which go to Pam. Thanks to all of the designers for this inspiring pattern and to all of you who have supported this great cause.
