I just love this bright and cheerful color palette! It reminds me of my childhood, which was filled with Jem and the Holograms, My Little Ponies and hours spent making drawings with my Spirograph – only this time, there’s a touch of grey added in to represent my adulthood staple shade: grey.

A Year of Crafting in Public

Firefly Dishcloth

In my mind, it’s Spring and I’m preparing for a long camping season here in the Pacific Northwest. At the campsite, I sit by the fire, turning my foil-wrapped potato on a stick and stirring my pot of baked beans slowly, relaxing with my husband and kids. After dinner, I wash the pots and pans with homemade dishcloths inspired by my surroundings.

Craft in Public week starts on Saturday!

(Ok, so it’s officially called Knit In Public but we here at Knit Picks all here do all sorts of crafts out in public so we prefer our term.  We like to be all inclusive!)

It runs from June 14 though June 22nd – so lots of time to show off your crafty selves! To be honest, I’m always knitting or crocheting in public so it’s fun to have a week to celebrate it.

52 Weeks of Dishcloths #23 – Picnic Basket Dishcloth

A few months back, I was working on a crocheted hat as part of some charity knitting I was doing.  I said to one of my friends, this hat needs something.  That’s when I learned how to do a ribbing in crochet.  I love it!  So when I went hunting for a pattern to use for this dishcloth, I ran into the basket weave pattern using the raised double crochet stitch that I used for the hat and thought perfect! I used Honeydew Dishie, which makes for a nice strong fabric.
