Free Pattern – Melodica Coin Purse

I feel like we don’t see enough coin purses out there – they’re so handy, not just for coins but for other small little items you don’t want to have to keep digging though a big purse to find (I keep lip balm & gloss in mine!).  Plus they’re handy if you just want to carry around a few items and not worry about a large purse on a night out. Well if you want to make one for yourself, check out the newest free pattern from the always creative SpillyJane, the Melodica Coin Purse!

Aura is here!

Just in time for sunnier forecasts, Aura is our 2016 spring pattern collection! These sixteen patterns are perfect for layering and feature sweet lace details in a soft pastel palette. Every year we keep things fresh by focusing on a different aspect of the perfect spring wardrobe. This year we wanted to feature flattering silhouettes while making sure to include some unexpected detail, for added interest (both while knitting and wearing!). I absolutely loved spending the day at Cistus Nursery with our lovely models in these super versatile garments, so I thought I would take a moment to share my absolute favorites from Aura with you!

Knit a Starflower Dishcloth!

One of our most popular dishcloth patterns is the Starflower Dishcloth. Simple knit front/back increases make the middle work up fast. The edging, knit in a simple lace pattern, is attached as you work around the dishcloth’s perimeter. The result is a sweet little dishcloth that’s as cute as it is practical.

This month we’ve released a video tutorial, taking you through tips and tricks to complete your very own Starflower Dishcloth.

Introducing: Paragon Yarn

New yarn launch days are my favorite: it’s when we get to finally share all of the wonderfully new yarn love that we’ve been secretly swooning over for the past few months. And this yarn is no exception, Paragon is a sport weight yarn and it’s the holy trinity of yarn for me – it has a little bit of everything that I love in a yarn.

First – it’s got 50% Mmmmerino, which adds that distinctive bounce and squish that I can’t get enough of in a yarn. Secondly – there’s 25% Baby Alpaca, which adds a softness and an extra dose of warmth. And the last 25% of Paragon is made up of luxurious silk, which is what adds that incredible sheen.

Sock Talk

Let’s talk about sock knitting, shall we? I’m not one to be constantly knitting socks, but occasionally I get so excited about a pattern that I’ll knit up a pair or two quickly, only to return to sock knitting a couple of years later. I also love sock yarn. I love it for everything from cardigans to baby items to socks, of course! With our sock yarn sale going on until tomorrow (up to 40% off sock yarns!) it’s a great time to stock up on your favorites. So let’s discuss some great Knit Picks items, related to socks, shall we?

Meet Alexis!

We’ve made a few changes in the office recently and I’m pleased to introduce you to one of our newest Knit Picks team members, Alexis! For the past year Alexis has been working in our photography department and assisting on all the Knit Picks photo shoots but she’s recently moved upstairs to join our Purchasing Team. Now, instead of wrangling lights or photographing endless skeins of yarn, she’s placing orders for cool new tools and making sure we have all the great colors of Palette always in and ready to ship. We asked her some quick questions about her crafty background and her experience working here over the last year and a half!

Dressing for The Bunny

I have two daughters, ages 2 and 3, and they increasingly like dressing up. They like very typical things for girls – twirly skirts, soft colors, and sparkles. I don’t have time to make them lots of clothes, but for special occasions and holidays, I try to gift them some handmade things to wear. Easter is coming early this year, so I’ve been busy crafting their outfits. Want to see what they’ll be wearing to meet The Bunny?
