The Summer Yarn Sale is in full swing, and even we can’t resists picking up yarn at a great price! Here’s what some of our team members are adding to their stashes. I am stocking up on Summer Yarn Sale deals for my holiday gifting. I grabbed some Dishie Twist Kenai and Conch to make some dish towels. I always make new hats for my nephews too so I grabbed Estuary Heather in Swish Bulky and Lake Front in Chroma Twist Bulky. I have a few baby blankets in my queue too, so I stocked up on all of the colors of Brava Speckle, you can’t beat that price! — Hillary |

While the word “chunky” in relation to yarn is not an official yarn weight class, it is common to refer to thicker yarns, Aran, Bulky, Super Bulky and Jumbo as “Chunky”. Today on the Knit Picks Podcast the team talks about chunky yarns and what to do with them! First up Lee and Stacey check in on their WIPs and discuss projects to knit with Bulky and Super Bulky yarns. Later Lee sits down with Michael Smith aka @piece4peacecrafting to learn more about his knitting and his spinning journey. Lee and Stacey talk about the benefits of working with chunky yarns. Projects knit up faster with chunky yarns but also create a thicker fabric. If you’re new to bulky and super bulky ... |

Inspiration comes from all places, including from a beloved children’s book and Knit Picks Fable Fur. Max, King of the Wild Things, Tail24″ 7-stitch I-cord knit in Knit Picks Fable Fur, Falke colorway. Weave in ends with a small crochet hook. Not only is Maurice Sendak’s “Where the Wild Things Are” a family favorite, a Max-style tail and crown also gave me the opportunity to work with our Fable Fur super bulky faux fur yarn. Armed with size 7 DPNs, I worked up a prototype based on a 7-stitch ... |

If you’ve been working with yarn awhile, you are probably aware that yarns come in different weights and what that means for your projects. But if you don’t, allow us to demystify yarn weights! While we love welcoming exciting new yarns, it’s so hard to say goodbye to other yarns, even though it’s a necessary part of our pledge to bring you the best products at the best prices. We have to discontinue some products to make room for new ones, so we are sad to see our sparkly luxury 66% Baby Alpaca and 34% Lurex yarn, Alux, go away. |

Knit Picks 2018 Summer Yarn Sale is almost over, have you stocked up? No? Well there are still some super deals to be had. Grab a few balls of Aloft! This luscious Mohair-Silk blend is so exquisite you really have to feel it to believe it and for as low as $4.89 it’s worth adding a ball or two to your cart. For new lace knitters try it with the Two-in-One Lace Scarf pattern for a project that comes in under $20 for 4 balls. I think Sky & Mongoose or Mongoose & Tarragon would make bold fun color combos. |

One of the reasons I love knitting over crochet is the amazing texture that knit stitches have. When using a super chunky yarn, the texture is amplified! That is why I love our Super Tuff Puff yarn. At an astonishing one and a half stitches per inch, project knit up in no time at all. The 100% wool in a single ply with a slight twist, this yarn is perfect for making amazingly chunky home decor and accessories. My favorite chunky yarn “hack” is knitting smaller patterns in chunky ... |
