Craft in Public week starts on Saturday! (Ok, so it's officially called Knit In Public but we here at Knit Picks all here do all sorts of crafts out in public so we prefer our term. We like to be all inclusive!) It runs from June 14 though June 22nd - so lots of time to show off your crafty selves! To be honest, I'm always knitting or crocheting in public so it's fun to have a week to celebrate it. |

With Memorial Day this past weekend heralding the unofficial start of summer, my favorite season, I thought I'd take a look at my to-knit list and start planning my warm-weather pieces! I knit year round, although I usually knit smaller items with more plant-based fibers in warmer months, since they're cooler to hold and take up less space when toting them around on trips. |

When we first started the planning stages of our two new kitchen collections, my mind was swimming with ideas! I am admittedly am a Pinerest addict, so it's no surprise that I kept stumbling across mason jar cozies. Once I had decided on the idea for a set of jar cozies, I did many many swatches of different patterns in Curio but ultimately settled on a cute lace chevron motif. |

A while back the Knit Picks team was given a challenge to create a pattern for the crocheted kitchen collection. And so the Classic Kitchen Crochet Collection was born. I chose to create the Crocheted Bread Warmer. Since I'm crazy about bread and there's nothing better than warm bread or rolls, it seemed like the perfect choice for me! There are two shape options, round or square, in Cotlin yarn. |

Blankets are my favorite thing to crochet, and I rarely deviate from this chosen, sacred path. That is, until I realized that dishcloths are like mini blankets, with quicker turnaround! |

The Knitpicks Podcast has changed a bit! With Kelley's retirement, we're taking on a new format. In this episode, we explore the question "Who taught you to knit?". Hear from the Knitpicks staff and members of the general public, as they share stories of love transferred through knitting and crochet lessons, gifts made, and time spent together. Hear about Hannah's first boucle scarf: |

I have no less than 5 friends having babies by the end of 2014: my pediatrician, my daughter's best friend's mom, my sister...one friend is even having twins! I have to knit every new baby I know something, too. I consider it a good luck charm. With two babes of my own, time is short so I'm always in need of a go-to baby knit. |

The days are (slowly!) getting warmer here in the Northwest, and so I was inspired to knit something a little more spring-like than my usual warm hats and cardigans. I was paging through knit.wear's Spring/Summer 2014 issue and when I spotted the Six Point Tee, I knew I'd found my next project. It was so beautifully simple and stylish, and with the bulky weight yarn it'd work up quickly. This is important because while I really enjoy the process of knitting, I love wearing the finished product more! |
