This week, Jenny and Kerin sit down for a chat about their easily-enabled world of crafting. From knitting and spinning to beading, weaving, crochet and tatting, it's sometimes just too easy to get sucked into a whole new craft. Our recent obsession: crochet! Having attempted to learn crochet several times, both Kerin and Jenny share their prior attempts before finally mastering the basics of crochet. And after getting the basics, our enthusiasm obviously didn't stop there! After moving onto different projects to expand our skills, we of course had to try our hands at making doilies with Curio. Next, we chat about different project ideas and interesting types of crochet - like Filet and Irish crochet - to inspire your next project. 3 easy ways to listen... |

Earlier this week, I was feeling a bit at loose ends in terms of audio books. I couldn't seem to find anything that kept my interest. So, I sent a tweet out into the great Twitter world and was thrilled with the suggestions I received. When I went to Audible to check out the tempting titles, I found that another of my favorite listening companies had joined forces with Audible.com -- The Great Courses! |

Ever since I committed to learning crochet, I've found myself trading in my needles for hooks more often than not. So for me, this year's Knit & Crochet in Public week has been all about returning to my first (and sadly unfinished!) crochet project. Say "Hello!" to my pile of 140+ crocheted circles; all waiting patiently to become the Hexagon How-To Blanket by Lucy of Attic24! |

Having an organized stash where your yarns all have planned projects assigned can be both a blessing and a curse: you feel good because there is a definite plan for all that yarn, but it can dampen those moments when inspiration strikes and you just have to cast on right away! Kelley’s solution? A spontaneity stash! Yes, this means that Kelley’s yarn stash is now divided into sub-categories but it makes for fun knitting when you come across that must-make project. Hear all about how Kelley plans out her spontaneity stash and what yarns make the cut. Next, Kelley talks about what is on her needles and her plans for summer knitting. Always craving a good sweater, Kelley finally embraces summer and gives in to lighter weight projects. And to make all of this summer planning a bit easier, Kelley shares her list of favorite audiobook recommendations. And for those of you who are looking to add a new book or two (or three!) to your summer reading list, Kelley has compiled a list of her favorites for you to peruse. 3 easy ways to listen... |

You can tell how comfortable I wanted to be to knit Star Athena’s Red Velvet Cupcakes Cuffs. I set up my tray for a nice, quiet afternoon. Knitting, reading while staying caffeinated and hydrated. And, yes, my mp3 player for an audio book. |

Recently I whipped up a little striped Chroma hat, and it's quicky become my favorite hat this winter. It didn't take much yarn, just a little of two colors, and the pattern is super easy! It's a quick and cute project for using up yarn leftovers. So, I thought I'd share. You'll need about 30 grams each of two colors of Chroma Worsted (my finished hat weighs 58 grams). I used Windermint and Wildwood... Click through to see the pattern! |
