It was, quite literally, a dark and stormy night when crafters, friends, and Knit Picks employees met up at the West Elm in downtown Portland for Knit Picks' 2014 Holiday Craft Party. Though a wind storm with gusts up to 74 mph was blowing through the area and quite a few lost power, West Elm glowed bright and warm. It was really an excellent night to stay in and make craft-tastic things with old and new friends. |

I bought a new home! No seriously, I did buy a full-size new home this summer, but I also bought a miniature house, too! Now I have to figure out how to furnish it. |

We are so honored to introduce our guest artists, Caden and Natalie Best. As one would expect with such illustrious artisans, the duo proved difficult to reserve. After much negotiation, bartering and outright groveling, we were able to commission their talent for illustrations of yarn lines and our book sale. |

This week, Kelley explores different opportunities for knitters to connect and create community via the internet. Whether through Ravelry, Knit-alongs, blogs, Instagram or Twitter, knitters nowadays have more options than ever to take part in creative communities as a way of connecting with each other, without being limited by location. Kelley explores the different facets of these online communities as she looks to strengthen her connection to other knitters. Next, Kelley shares a few of her most recent audiobook discoveries and catches you up on what projects and KALs are keeping her needles busy. I'm pretty sure that you could hear my exclamations from SPACE when we got our first copy of Anna Hrachovec's new book "Huge & Huggable Mochimochi". A giant stuffed tooth brush and tooth paste tube? YES PLEASE. An enormous pink squid driving a car?? You had me at Squidpocalypse. Page after page of incredibly cute knits had me clapping my hands and giggling with delight until we reached the page with Roland the rolly bug lounging in his folding chair. At this point, my brain exploded and I had to restrain myself from ripping the book out of Stacey's hands and making a copy of the pattern to take home over the weekend so that I could have my very own Roland ASAP. |

It's October 1st, which means it's my favorite month of the year! Every since I was young, I've loved October - cooler days, falling leaves, pumpkin everything, and especially all sorts of spooky things to celebrate Halloween! Whether it's listening to an old favorite song, watching a favorite movie or visiting our local haunted houses, every October I'm ready to celebrate. And a lot of our IDP designers have gotten into the spirit - check out some of these great patterns to get started on before the 31st shows up. First off, the marvelous Joanna Rankin has several patterns that are perfect this time of year. |
