The days are (slowly!) getting warmer here in the Northwest, and so I was inspired to knit something a little more spring-like than my usual warm hats and cardigans. I was paging through knit.wear's Spring/Summer 2014 issue and when I spotted the Six Point Tee, I knew I'd found my next project. It was so beautifully simple and stylish, and with the bulky weight yarn it'd work up quickly. This is important because while I really enjoy the process of knitting, I love wearing the finished product more! |

Hawthorne is my newest yarn crush with the lovely color palette, local yarn names (so much fun to pick!) and the wonderfully durable fiber blend it's perfect for so many different projects. Alison has been making baby sweaters, I've seen a few lovely shawls and I've personally made almost four pairs of socks since we got the samples in the office. We also reknit the Gradual Rib Hat from the Geometric Pattern Collection in Rose City and Irvington, I like the new colors even BETTER than the original Stroll colorway! |

My son Nate is growing like a weed, and keeping up with his increasingly-large clothing is a bit of a challenge. I tend to get all wide-eyed from sticker shock when I see baby and toddler sweaters in stores, so most of my knitting lately has focused on little pullovers and cardigans. |

Spring is HERE! Finally! The change in weather means I've been reaching for bright, cheery yarns. I've had a skein each of Cotlin Flamingo and Conch on my desk since we started this series of dishcloth patterns and I succumbed to their siren call for Peach Margot Dishcloth pattern. I LOVE how chipper they are together, especially in the Catherine Wheel stitch (one of my all time traditional favorites). This dishcloth reminds me of photos I've seen of flamingos in flight, all wings and necks. |

I love our new yarn Hawthorne. You probably could tell because I wouldn't shut up about it on our latest podcast. Since I've been using it like crazy in several projects, I thought I'd share some tips & tricks for working with what can be a challenging yarn to some people - hand painted yarn. |

Spring looks like it's here, but the weather still isn't convinced. T-shirts are still relegated to storage and my sweater collection is in full rotation, I've even been double layering sweaters outside to do yard work. Cold days also means a cold house where hand washed things take a whole week to air dry (if I'm lucky) so I found myself contemplating a range of cheap polar fleece jackets to wear while I dig up bushes and mix compost into my soon-to-be dye garden in the back yard. I didn't see anything I liked, but I did see a bag of Brava Worsted in Peacock that looked pretty enticing so I gave in to my knitting needles and decided to cast on the Worsted Crewneck from Worsted Basics pattern collection. |

Jared Flood's Cobblestone Pullover has been haunting me for years. I think most knitters have a pattern that has lingered in their mental list of things to knit for far too long and at some point it becomes this obstacle that needs to be conquered. I bought my very first issue of Interweave Knits way back in 2007 during my first year of college and the early days of my knitting adventures. Over the years I've sifted through that single issue so many times that it's falling to pieces. Without fail, I would head straight to the Cobblestone Pullover whenever this issue resurfaced on my book shelf, and I would find myself wishing that I had either the yarn or the fella to knit it for. The stars never quite aligned for this pattern... until now! |

Lately, we've been taking some time to weed through our older free patterns that need a little update and having them reknit for new photos or if the original yarn has been discontinued. I love taking good, solid patterns and giving them a mini makeover to match our current aesthetics. Our most recent redo was the Chunky Slipper Pattern from a few years ago. I whipped these up over two days in Wool of the Andes Bulky Navy and love how they fit. Not too bulky, but perfect slipped over a pair of socks for around the house on cold mornings. |

Those frosted windshields and travel mugs full of hot tea mean that it's accessory weather! Fingerless mittens have come out of storage weeks ago, I've started carrying around a slouchy hat in my purse for windy emergencies this week and I just sorted through my chest of knit sweaters. I've been pretty steadily increasing the winter wardrobes of my extended family and friends every Christmas and this year is certainly no different. I wanted to share a few of my recent favorites to add to your own knitting list! |

I am usually a very strict one-project-at-a-time kind of a gal, but every once in a while a yarn is just so tempting and beautiful that it just happens to come home with me and goes directly onto my needles or hook. And that is precisely what happened with our latest special reserve yarn, Diadem DK. I was still in the middle of my last crochet cowl (in Diadem Fingering) but I just could not help myself! This yarn is so lovely with a wonderful drape, I knew it would be perfectly suited for something gift-worthy. And with the holidays sneaking up on me, I had just the excuse to break my one-project rule. |
