As a mom, or more importantly, as a human being in the modern world, I relish the opportunity to carve out a little time for myself to do whatever my heart and mind needs in the moment. Namely, slow down, stop obsessing over my never-ending to-do list, and just RELAX. We could all stand to take more gorgeous moments for ourselves to replenish and reflect, whether it be daydreaming about taking a luxurious cruise with the Fab 5 or just sipping some hot coffee on a quiet early morning while the rest of the house is still asleep. I’ll take whatever I can get. Bonus points if it includes plants, outdoor time, or Indian food. |

“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.” – Edith Sitwell It’s no secret that we love a good listicle. When the opportunity presents itself to write about our favorite things, we jump on it. Traditions vary for those of us here at Knit Picks HQ, but the one common thread is that for each of us, this time of year offers a chance to indulge in the nostalgic traditions each of us holds dear. Whether it be watching Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas on repeat or imbibing a classy holiday cocktail or ... |

“Fact: Fall is the best time of the year.” Dwight Schrute Okay. That is not an actual quote as Dwight Schrute is not an actual person, but I’m pretty confident that if he was real, he would totally make that statement. Needless to say, I would agree with him 1000%. Perhaps the thing that I love most about fall is the soul fortifying relief that it offers after the sultry days of summer. Having grown up in the high desert as a child, I relish the opportunity as an adult to surround myself with the spectacle of deciduous trees in autumn. Between the crisp, earthy air and brilliantly colored landscape, my nesting (and creative) tendencies kick into ... |

With that in mind, we thought we’d brighten your day with a copious amount of pretty things to look at. Enjoy! Billow yarns / Ice Lily, Mulberry, Lichen |

Holidays means different things to different people. The 4th of July being no exception to this rule, this particular holiday has always been about keeping things as low-key as possible for me. This year my family of three will be venturing west into the Columbia Gorge to spend a night at the Skamania Lodge, far from the festivities where we will be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery sans fireworks. |

Mother’s day can mean different things depending on you and your family’s traditions. For some it means gathering with family and celebrating together; others – a quiet day in. But for every Mother on Mother’s day, there’s one thing that I think should always come with the territory: some well-deserved time in the chill zone. Being a parent so often requires you to put aside your own needs to prioritize those of your family, but Mother’s day is about appreciating all that hard work and sacrifice. “Winter is not a season, it’s an occupation.” – Sinclair Lewis Unless you live below the 35th parallel, chances are you have had to endure your fair share of winter weather lately. While I am able to appreciate the beauty of falling snow and all things chilly, I find that the likelihood is far greater if I am doing so from the comfort of my couch, with a snoring dog next to me and a fresh cup of coffee within reach. I mean really, could there BE a better time to sit and knit? Not in my world. |
