Knit in Public Day 2018: Recap
This past Saturday we loaded up our cars with yarn, books, and a giant unicorn and headed out to Overlook Park in north Portland to host our annual Knit Pick-nic.
Despite the erratic weather (a little hail, rain, wind, & bright sunny cloud breaks anyone?), we managed to gather together at one of our beloved local venues to celebrate WWKIPD, otherwise known as Worldwide Knit in Public Day. We had the pleasure of hosting several hundred knitters and crocheters on this blustery day, replete with raffle prizes, scads of free yarn and books, and of course snacks!
Naturally, there were a plethora of gorgeous hand-knits being worn. Check out this brilliant shawl one of our attendees was sporting!
Another bee-yute-ee-full piece spotted was this short sleeved cowl-necked sweater this woman had made with 5 different colors of our City Tweed yarn* (swoon).
The highlight of the day? Watching all of our friends meet our unofficial mascot, Sparkles the Knitting Unicorn. Folks were snapping selfies and using the hashtag #weheartsparkles. Psst! Check out the photos on Instagram.
See y’all at the next Knit Pick-nic!
