Brava Blues Blanket: Finished!

Another massive blanket is done, and I am so happy with it! My first foray into chevron stripes, I sought to capture the soothing calm of oceanic waves with gradations of Brava blues. A most affordable and comfy trip to the Mediterranean! 🙂

Yarn Madness Round 2 – The Cool Cottons Bracket

Well, Round 1 is complete!  In the most heated battle, Wool of the Andes vs Palette, there were less than 40 votes between the winner and loser!  But WoTA reigned supreme with 52% of the votes.  The other battles were fairly decisive with Capra (70% of the votes), Wool of the Andes Bulky (63% of the votes) and Alpaca Cloud (74% of the votes) all coming out on top and moving on.  Here’s the updated bracket:

Sloped Lines Dishcloth

This week’s design for our 52 Weeks of Dishcloths is the Sloped Lines Dishcloth! When I started digging through stitch patterns for my design, I knew that I wanted to stick to crochet for this week. I just love the texture and unique lines that crochet stitches are able to bring to life. And I just couldn’t resist the meandering lines that hug the small clusters of double crochets.

Worsted Basics

I’m so glad that I finally get to talk about one of my favorite collections to date – Worsted Basics! I love working with worsted yarn and it’s a delight to be able to find a whole collection of projects in the same weight in one place. The projects are fantastic which made it easy to take some gorgeous photos of them on location at a house in the lovely Forest Park area. I love those deep, dark woods and we were able to take advantage of lovely scenery between rain showers by ducking into the cute house for a few projects.

Slant Dishcloth

When I make myself dishcloths, I tend to go towards ones that I can finish quickly (so I can use them right away – I always seem to make them when I need them the most).  I also prefer ones I can work on when doing other things like reading or watching TV so they need to be easy enough I don’t have to keep referring to the pattern.  So for my dishcloth this week, I came up with the Slant Dishcloth:

New Sweaters for Every Body

Spring looks like it’s here, but the weather still isn’t convinced. T-shirts are still relegated to storage and my sweater collection is in full rotation, I’ve even been double layering sweaters outside to do yard work. Cold days also means a cold house where hand washed things take a whole week to air dry (if I’m lucky) so I found myself contemplating a range of cheap polar fleece jackets to wear while I dig up bushes and mix compost into my soon-to-be dye garden in the back yard. I didn’t see anything I liked, but I did see a bag of Brava Worsted in Peacock that looked pretty enticing so I gave in to my knitting needles and decided to cast on the Worsted Crewneck from Worsted Basics pattern collection.
