I have been so excited about New England Knits since we first started seeing pictures from it and I finally got my very own copy! We're all pretty excited about it here - in fact Kate & I unknowingly both tweeted about how excited we were about it. I went to the coast this weekend & with the cool weather there, it was perfect time to thumb through it & think about all the lovely cardigans I want to make! And goodness, I think I want to make every single project in this book - something I haven't seen in a book for a very long time - well that doesn't include cute toys like Knitting Mochimochi! :) |

UPDATE 6/21 - Wow, you all love your Mochimochi! Contest is now closed, we'll choose a winner on 6/22! I think it's obvious to everyone who has seen my desk that I love knitted toys. Well, one of my all time favorite toy designers is releaseing her first book on June 29th! Knitting Mochimochi! Anna & her fabulous publisher sent us copies to give away! As much as Angela & I would love to keep them for ourselves, we want to spread the word on Knitting Mochimochi. So to be entered to win, leave a comment on this post and we'll draw two names next week for a free copy! Good Luck! |

Yarn – Aloft PLUS Design – Belinda Shawl in Mason Dixon Knitting: Outside the Lines EQUALS (had to refer to a thesaurus because I knew just one word wouldn’t be enough) Diaphanus, gossamer, luminous, radiant, resplendent, shimmering, exquisite, elegant, ethereal – you get the idea. This layer is done in Tarragon. I can’t wait to see what happens when I start the Eggplant layer. P.S. Kay and Ann recommend using straight needles but I am using Zephyr circulars and I’m a happy camper. But, don’t forget that we do have straight Harmony needles. |

Let me show it to you... Can you believe how beautiful it is? Aloft is a blend of 75% mohair and 25% silk and it will leave you wanting to knit with it over and over again. The silk adds a radiant core that shimmers and shines through the soft halo of mohair, all the while adding a beautiful drape and texture to any project. Our team fell head-over-heals in love with the line the moment we first saw the sample. The Knit Picks Director - Alison - couldn't keep us out of her office because we all wanted to keep touching it! It's just so yummy! |

I generally hold myself to a 12" limit for the stacks of paper and piles of samples that clutter my desk, but this heap of spinning fiber pushed things over the top. |

The Kromski family has been making spinning wheels for more than 100 years. In their local cultural museum, you can find a spinning wheel made by Daniel Kromski's grandfather. It's no surprise that Kromski wheels are not only well engineered but they have several designs to suit any style preference. Ranging from simple modern to wood-turned embellished, you will find a wheel worthy of the investment of money and creative energy. There is a Kromski Spinning Wheel Owners group on Ravelry that is bursting with information on each Kromski from spinners who use and love them. Where better to get advice on which wheel to buy? The Fantasia is the newest in the Kromski collection. Yes, thoroughly modern in every aspect, but the concept and design are obviously Kromski. |
