Do you have certain "yarn categories"? It never used to get that specific for me but recently it's changed. I used to have a few favorite yarns and use them for everything under the sun. Lately, I've noticed that I like to make specific things with certain yarns: wool is for sweaters, superwash wool is for kids, and acrylic (even in blends) is for toys, pillows, and blankets. Apparently, my colleagues have a similar ethos, because when Mighty Stitch Bulky and Super Bulky hit the office, we wasted no time in making things for around the house that really bring a smile to our faces. Check them out, and see if they bring a smile to yours, as well! |

A sequel to our 2015 Fair Isle collection, Creative Color is packed with 15 brand new patterns for colorwork knitting from our favorite independent designers! The projects range from accessories to complex fair isle sweaters, but all are equally stunning! But what happens if you love the pattern, but the color palette just isn't your style? It's a bit more complicated to substitute colors for a pattern that calls for many different shades - but it's definitely not impossible! To show you just how versatile colorwork can be, we've chosen three different projects from Creative Color and knit up swatches in alternate colorways as inspiration. Let's get started! 1. As the Administrative Assistant here at Knit Picks, I get to see every book that comes into our office. It's really fun to see whats new and exciting in the world of yarn - although I admit it's also distracting... I get inspired and all I want to do is play with yarn instead of work! So before I head off to plan my next knitting project, here are a few of my favorite knit and crochet books to cross my desk recently. |
