Growing up, both my mom & my grandma were always knitting and crocheting - they had learned both so they didn't feel any need to keep projects to one or the other. When I first got interested in yarn crafts, my mom showed me how to make the dishcloths she and my grandmother always made. Of course I tried it and even though my newbie misshapen pieces were not works of art, I enjoyed making them and used them for years. So I thought I'd share the pattern with everyone doing the 52 Weeks of Dishcloths! |

I always try to keep a small project on my hooks or needles as a sort of crafty "palate cleanser" while I'm working on intense, long-term projects. I've noticed that it helps to keep me motivated and excited about those big pieces if I can take a mini break and finish something else quickly. My newest favorite mini knit is Purl Soho's free Garter Flap Hat (teeny tiny baby sized). |

We have a brand new yarn out today! The Big Cozy (the name always makes me think of one of my favorite movies, The Big Sleep) is a super bulky alpaca/wool blend that is SO SOFT. I haven't actually worked with super bulky yarns in years so I figured I should play around with it. I grabbed the largest needles I own (size 13) and a skein of both Marine Heather and Finnley Heather and decided to make a hat! |

Hudson's Bay stripes are an absolute classic, known as much for being hard-wearing as they are beautiful. This dishcloth celebrates the spirit of modern simplicity with stockinette stitch in four colors of "Dishie" yarn. Make this dishcloth as written, or extend the off-white color "swan" to a longer length, repeat the stripes, and make a lovely hand towel! |

Participating in the 52 Weeks of Dishcloths has been an adventure. Trying new stitch patterns on a small scale fits with my crazy, busy life. I decided that a spa cloth, with a lacy pattern, would be fun to try using Dishie. |
