Jared Flood's Cobblestone Pullover has been haunting me for years. I think most knitters have a pattern that has lingered in their mental list of things to knit for far too long and at some point it becomes this obstacle that needs to be conquered. I bought my very first issue of Interweave Knits way back in 2007 during my first year of college and the early days of my knitting adventures. Over the years I've sifted through that single issue so many times that it's falling to pieces. Without fail, I would head straight to the Cobblestone Pullover whenever this issue resurfaced on my book shelf, and I would find myself wishing that I had either the yarn or the fella to knit it for. The stars never quite aligned for this pattern... until now! |

Those frosted windshields and travel mugs full of hot tea mean that it's accessory weather! Fingerless mittens have come out of storage weeks ago, I've started carrying around a slouchy hat in my purse for windy emergencies this week and I just sorted through my chest of knit sweaters. I've been pretty steadily increasing the winter wardrobes of my extended family and friends every Christmas and this year is certainly no different. I wanted to share a few of my recent favorites to add to your own knitting list! |

I'm pretty sure that you could hear my exclamations from SPACE when we got our first copy of Anna Hrachovec's new book "Huge & Huggable Mochimochi". A giant stuffed tooth brush and tooth paste tube? YES PLEASE. An enormous pink squid driving a car?? You had me at Squidpocalypse. Page after page of incredibly cute knits had me clapping my hands and giggling with delight until we reached the page with Roland the rolly bug lounging in his folding chair. At this point, my brain exploded and I had to restrain myself from ripping the book out of Stacey's hands and making a copy of the pattern to take home over the weekend so that I could have my very own Roland ASAP. |

About once a catalog cycle I hear myself saying "Oh... I should really make this one" as I hold up one garment or another from a pattern collection during a photo shoot. That list keeps getting longer and I find myself forgetting about them once the catalog mails and some gorgeous project photo catches my eye on Pinterest or Ravelry. This time however, I managed to mentally "earmark" the Garter Ridge Hat from the Light Basics pattern collection as a project that would make a a lovely hat for my dad. |

Some of my favorite days at work are photo shoot days. Every catalog cycle we log anywhere between 1-4 location shoots and 2-5 in-house studio days where we shoot tools, garments, yarn, books and all sorts of other things that crop up along the way. Each kind of shoot has this moment when everything just clicks and Amy and I can get that "perfect shot" that was exactly what we had in mind. Every once in a while we have a shot that totally exceeds our expectations and makes me actually clap my hands and gasp when I see the image on the screen. I wanted to take a minute and shine the spotlight on some of my favorite photos that we've taken recently that maybe didn't make it into the catalog or are Independent Designer's patterns that I'm especially proud of. Enjoy! |

And, I didn't know it until I saw GlennaC's latest blog post - Around and Around. |

Oh how I LOVE Kerin's new Light Basics collection. I can very clearly remember the minute we unpacked all of the knit samples in the office. As each garment came out we all reached out to touch the beautiful, springy fabric of each garment. I definitely gave the Light Basics Pullover an extra squeeze and even a little hug to with a big grin on my face because that Capretta (as I've said before) just knits up into SUCH A GORGEOUS fabric! Each piece in this collection is designed to be a simple, easy to knit and timeless addition to your wardrobe. |

3 years ago this week, the first IDP patterns went up on the site! We started with around 20 patterns and a handful of designers; since then the Independent Designer Partnership Program has grown to nearly 2000 patterns and over 550 designers! Wow! I'm so excited I get to be a part of this. Alison came up with the idea in fall 2009 and I came aboard the Knit Picks team in November. My first month was spent working round the clock to make sure everything was ready to go! Since then, this has been my main job at Knit Picks and I honestly couldn't be happier - I've loved getting to know the designers and helping them bring their patterns to you. We've grown the IDP to include kits, ebooks, and our newest venture, IDP Designer Collections. Plus I can't wait for you all to see what our next IDP projects is - believe me, you are going to love it! Since we're celebrating our anniversary, I've been asking my coworkers to pick their favorite IDP patterns. While it was like pulling teeth ("I like so many of them!") they finally narrowed their choices down. To be honest, I also had problems picking a favorite pattern, but I finally went with the one I've made many times - the Boo Bear Hat by Terri Kruse. |

I have a new yarn love and it is Andes del Campo. It's probably rather silly since it's not a new yarn at all. And I had played with it a bit when it first came out & thought it was lovely. But I hadn't used it in a project until recently & now I'm head over heels. |

Oh goodness, my holiday knitting queue just keeps getting larger! I spend a little bit of time every day trawling Ravelry and our library here for good patterns to knit (or crochet now!) up for everyone on my list and I thought I'd share a few of my favorites today. |
