Winter Color Palettes

We are now in the thick of winter, and brrrr is it cold out there!?! I love the cold weather because it gives me a great excuse to curl up inside with a new knitting project. Now that the holidays are over I needed some color inspiration for my next projects. I stumbled across some beautiful winter photos that paired beautifully with our Knit Picks yarn lines. If you have a great project in mind but are stumped on what colors to use, I suggest you try out a few of these beautiful winter color palettes.

This gorgeous winter lake cabin photo had the perfect mix of blues and greens to get me inspired. I pulled a few of my favorite blues, and blue-greens from our Palette yarn collection. Midnight Heather, Rainforest Heather, Tidepool Heather, and Mist.

Cozy Morning Palette

This photo is for all you monochromatic lovers! I pulled this beautifully simplistic color palette from our super soft Alpaca Cloud Fingering yarn line. Anna, Carson, and Thomas create the perfect cozy morning mood. I have to admit I’m a sucker for a good ice blue, and my coworkers would agree that anything paired with our Anna color is sure to be your favorite project yet.

These frosty red barns create a beautifully sweet winter color palette. Perfect for your upcoming valentines day projects! From our Billow yarn line Hollyberry, Comfrey, and Ice Lily make up this frosted palette. Add in white and use the Hollyberry as accents to make it even more frosty!

Snowy Forest Palette

Here in the Pacific Northwest we are surrounded by beautiful pine trees. There’s something so peaceful and inspiring about these beautifully snowy tree limbs. From our Wool of the Andes Worsted yarn line I paired Noble Heather, Forest Heather, Briar Heather, and White. I’m a sucker for a good heather yarn and these make the perfect neutral winter color palette.

Frozen Branches Palette

There’s nothing more serene than these frosty blues. I paired our super soft Swish yarn line with these blues to keep you warm and comfy this winter. Delft Heather, Twilight, and White create a beautiful icey winter color palette.

I hope these winter color palettes have inspired you to frost a few of your upcoming projects. It’s the best time of year because no one will judge you if you spend a weekend (or two) curled up with your favorite project. Stay cozy this winter – put on a pot of coffee or tea and bust out the yarn! Happy creating everyone!
