I appreciated the clean, geometric lines of the Timpani shawl. I have a good chunk of sock yarn that I bought at the first Sock Summit, what, three years ago?
I had two skeins of Fiber Optic’s Batik yarns. The key is that one skein has enough yarn for a pair of socks and is completely unique. I think the uniqueness has intimidated me in terms of starting a pair of socks. I couldn’t seem to commit to a design I thought was good enough for something so special. But, I hadn’t counted on Jen Lucas’ obsession with shawlettes. Thanks to her, I knew I had finally found something worthy of the yarn.
Yes! I am absolutely thrilled with my shawlette. And, it took as long to knit as it would have taken me to knit a pair of socks. It was easily portable even with a printout of the graph. Now I completely understand why Jen can’t stop designing and knitting these little treasures.
