It’s getting down to the wire for holiday knitting – and suddenly you remember you promised to knit your great aunt a gift this year! (er, not that it’s happened to me or anything) So what do you do? Well, you go stash diving and download a super quick free pattern that can be done in a matter of hours! Here are some of my favorites I turn to when I need a gift right away.
This cute little pattern by our own Jennifer uses a small amount of yarn and knits up in a flash. Perfect for the coffee lovers in your life! If you don’t have the buttons on hand, you can easily just duplicate stitch a snowman face instead.
We all just love this freebie pattern – it’s been around for awhile but it’s so versatile we’ve updated it several times with different yarns! Hannah made our newest version in one evening, using our brand new Chroma Twist Bulky – but this also works great with Wool of the Andes Bulky (Regular and Superwash), Mighty Stitch Bulky and Brava Bulky – basically if you have a 100 gram skein of bulky weight yarn around, you can easily knit up these slippers as a last minute gift.
If your gift recipient could use a warm cowl, you can’t go wrong with this crochet pattern by Jessica Zoz! Using super soft Biggo, this cowl crochets up quick with 10mm crochet hooks and an easy to learn puff stitch. I spot these type of cowls in shops all the time but I think a handmade one is so much nicer (and warmer!)
With one skein of Mighty Stitch Super Bulky, you can quickly knit up this warm headband by Kimberly Golynsky. Perfect for folks who need (or want) to be outdoors in cold weather, this super easy pattern works up in a snap. Best of all, one size fits all, so it’s great for when you aren’t sure of sizing!
Finally, nothing is quicker for a last minute gift than a set of dishcloths. We have over 100 free dishcloth patterns on our site, so you can pick and choose the exact ones you need. Knit or crochet a coordinating set, pair with a pretty soap and you are all set!
We hope this was helpful and you won’t be up until midnight the night before finishing your gifts!
