Kathleen is an avid knitter whose day job is a director/script supervisor for Recorded Books Productions. I couldn’t resist asking her to join me on this podcast so I could indulge my curiosity regarding the making of audio books.

I am blown away by how many preemie hats you guys knit over one weekend, the grand total turned out to be 86 hats! Kate made this cool slide show of all your photos:
You impressed the folks at The Preemie Project too, they sent me this message, “I was just looking through all of the posts. How cool! We really appreciate it!”.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to knit 1, or 6, or 11, or 13 hats for a good cause this weekend. Yep, I said 13. Ruthmci and Knit4Many each knit 13 hats before 9am yesterday. We had a tie. We thought about coming up with a tie breaker, like a Battle Royale for knitters, but in the end we’ve just decided to give prizes to both of them.
They will each get a copy of Knitting in the Sun, a needle set, and 11 balls of cotton …
So, it’s no secret that I love cold weather. There’s just something
about bundling up in my winter woollens that I really look forward to.
Not all knits are created equal, though – and for warm woollens, just
about the warmest you can get is by thrumming.
Thrumming is a
process whereby tufts of roving are knitted into the fabric. It’s really
easy and fun, and the result is just amazingly warm and soft. If you’ve
ever wanted to try it but weren’t sure where to start, try our Toboggan Thrummed Hat and Mitts kit!
It’s beginning to feel like fall here in the Pasific Northwest! I
apologize to those who are in the middle of the heatwave and are now
throwing things at the monitor (my partner is currently in Boston and
pretty much hates the fact that I told him how cool it is out here at
the moment). BUT! Fall is my favorite time of year – I love the cool
crisp evenings and especially digging out my woolies! So the last
couple of nights I’ve got to wear my sweaters & hats for the first
time in months.
And I finished a new sweater just in time!
This is the Salem Hooded Jacket from New England Knits.

Becker emailed me, saying that she was going to be in our area and
would love to meet us. Of course we jumped at the chance – Snowden has
been an important part of the IDP program (her gorgeous pattern Agatha
Cardigan) is now our number 1 seller!) Even though it was a cold
grey rainy May day, she made the drive down & went to lunch with
Alison and me
As promised, here is your second installment of the Demystifying Lace
class! It’s in 3 short segments so you get a breather in there. 😉
Enjoy!
