Meet Your Teacher: Jenny!

Have you seen our newest tutorials? If you’re new to knitting or crochet, we’ve got five great new classes to teach you the basics, featuring projects you’ll love to make. One of our favorite projects is our Knit Beginner Blanket. Using our free pattern (available HERE), Jenny takes you through all the steps to making this amazing blanket in her favorite yarn, Preciosa. We thought you might like to learn a bit more about Jenny, so I asked her some pertinent questions, below!

What’s your favorite item to knit/crochet?

For crochet, I’m all about the blankets because they work up quickly with big results. For knitting, I always have a plain pair of socks on the needles for when I’m in between projects but my favorite thing to knit are sweaters with hats as a close second.

Who are your 2 favorite knitting/crochet designers?

Whenever I really love a project that I come across, there is a good chance it’s a design by Julie Hoover. All of her designs are modern, but have a very classic and timeless sensibility about them.

Emma Lamb is another designer that I’m currently hooked on (…and yes, pun intended). Her crochet designs focus on patterns for the home plus her style and color sensibility is equal parts cheerful and whimsical.

Are you currently working on a project right now? What is it?

I’m currently working through my fiber stash and spinning more than knitting or crocheting at the moment – but as always, there is a plain pair of socks on my needles for when I need to mix things up.

Do you do any other crafts, besides knitting/crochet?

I spin and I’ve dabbled in weaving with a rigid heddle loom. I also sew a bit and that is something I’d love to get better at.

What is your favorite Knit Picks yarn and why?

I’d have to say Preciosa – the colors are simply amazing and it’s just so irresistibly soft.
