If you’re looking to take the chill out of a November morning, the Lampwork Hat & Mitts set is a colorful way to do just that!
The pattern includes instructions for the beanie-style cap and fingerless mittens. Each piece is also multi-sized and customizeable for a perfect fit. Though the patterning itself is simple, a spicy touch is added in that every third round is worked triple-stranded. The patterning matches, though with the hat being worked in Wool of the Andes Worsted and the mitts in Wool of the Andes Sport, each is worked at a gauge appropriate for their use.
The third strand of yarn doesn’t add much bulk, but both pieces are sized to acommodate the slightly less stretchy fabric. If triple-stranding is a technique you haven’t tried but would like to, this is a perfect pattern to try out. The repeat is simple and easily memorizeable, leaving you free to focus on the technique. I’ve done a video tutorial on how to work this very pattern!
A great part about the simplicity of the pattern is that it also allows you to have fun with the colors. We have kits available right now in Bright and Sand, but if you get the pattern separately, you can use whatever colors you like! It’s simplest in three colors, but don’t let that hold you back. You could work each chevron in a different color and create your own masterpiece! How about a beautiful mix of soft blues? Or a vivd rainbow? There are so many colorful possibilities!
