“It’s like knitting a kitten!” – these are just one of the many comments you’ll find from crafters on Ravelry professing their love for Andean Treasure. And it is true! Andean Treasure is easily one of the softest yarns with a plush, squish-ability that you just can’t get enough of. Andean Treasure is 100% baby alpaca, which means it’s the softest and finest classification of alpaca fiber.
If you haven’t tried Andean Treasure yet, we’ve put together a handful of free patterns (including knit and crochet!) that just might tempt you to add a ball…or two…or three.
1. The Hyde Park Hat – free crochet pattern
The Hyde Park Hat includes three Adult sizes plus options for slouch or non-slouch versions. Using a variety of crochet stitches, it works up quickly from brim to crown – and it just takes two balls of Andean Treasure!
2. Skipper’s Watch Hat – free knitting pattern
A fun slouch hat with no shaping, the Skipper’s Watch is knit flat with a slip stitch pattern. When the desired height is achieved, the crown stitches are gathered and the seam is closed down the side.
3. The Meandre Cowl – free knitting pattern
Meandre is a simple lace cowl that shows off a fun chevron lace texture. These curves from the chevron are then accentuated with stripes for a pop of color – try 4 contrasting colors for a subtle, gradient effect or go bright and bold!
4. The City Cowl – free knitting pattern
This sweet and simple pattern is a close-fitting cowl that uses an easy stitch pattern to create an interesting textured rib. The City Cowl is knit as a flat rectangle, then the edges are sewn off-center to create a cowl with a fold-over half collar – perfect for creating different looks and styles!
5. The Alumni Scarf – free knitting pattern
Not your typical rib pattern, this scarf combines different Knit/Purl combinations to create an instant classic for men or women. A simple and addictive stitch pattern, the rhythm of the Alumni Scarf will have knit up in no time at all.
