Favorite Tool Roundup

Calling all crafters! Whether you’re neck-deep in gift knitting like I am, or indulging for some “selfish knitting”, there’s always a new tool to add to your craft arsenal. I’ve put together a list of my favorite tools, some are old favorite and others are unsung heroes. Stock up on these before the holiday madness for the best knit or crochet projects!

Sometimes a yarn cries out for the perfect project bag. Not only do these durable drawstring bags keep your knits safe and snag-free, each one has it’s own flavor. The Adventure Awaits bag is slightly oversized which makes it idea for medium-sized projects, or two small projects snuggled together. I love this size because I can fit my pattern folded just in half as opposed to folded into a teeny tiny square and smashed in alongside my project. Our Gold Interchangeable Needle Case holds two sets of interchangeable needles (Sunstruck, for example!) and has zipper pockets, perfect for storing patterns, small tools or a view sizer. The best part? You can totally fit the whole case, plus a project in this bag, ready for any knits that come your way. Hawthorne Multi Colors shown (L-R: Lovejoy, Burlingame, Cathedral Park, Sellwood, Willamette, Portsmouth).

Up your flair game with our enamel pins! Just the right amount of sass and super cute, we love adding these to our knitting bags and work lanyards so we can show off our deep love for our hobbies.

Spell out just what’s inside your WIP queue with these sock-themed project bags! Just the right size to hold two skeins of yarn, these bags have the right sense of humor for the truly sock-obsessed. The Single Sock Seeks Same and Socks to Be You! bags make great gift wrapping for a finished pair of socks too! Simply knit, finish and slip into one of these bags for a surprisingly cute, themed gift.

Staying with our sock-and-hawthorne theme, I’ve got two totally necessary tools for knitters serious about their socks. The Small Cedar Box is the perfect size for holding three pairs of socks. Not only does it make storing easy, these cedar wood boxes help deter those destructive wool moths. I think it would be amazing to carefully fold three pairs of handmaid socks and pop them into a cedar box to wrap and gift! Next, our plastic Sock Blockers ensure that you get a fantastic looking sock with perfect stitches after all your hard work. These blockers come in three sizes (small, medium, and large) for the perfect fit. Want to knit the socks in the photo? Grab a copy of Artful Arches and a pair of your favorite needles! Hawthorne colors shown: Compass Kettle, Rose City and Alameda Multi.

Say “hello!” to stoneware buttons! These super cute buttons are hand crafted and feature cute motifs. The little Blue Bird buttons are my favorite, how fun would they be on a kiddo cardigan?! We’ve picked the perfect sizes for handknits, not too big that your button band sags and without sharp edges to rough up your button holes. Check out the full range of buttons (including the seasonally appropriate Snowflake Buttons!) here.
