Contest for Portland Metro knitters!

A lot of components go into creating great photos for our catalog and web site, and one important component is location. (It’s not just true for real estate!) We like to get out of the studio as much as we can to capture the natural lighting and inspiring backdrops of the area in which we live. Since we’re headquartered in Vancouver, WA, we do a lot of shooting in Portland, the gorge, Camas, and Vancouver. It really brings that “Pacific Northwest” feeling to our photos I think. Anyway, remember my blog post a while back about our October photoshoot at Hopworks Urban Brewery? Well, now that the October catalog is out, I can show you some of my favorite shots from that location shoot.

Twisted Rib “Reversi” Socks Pattern from Tops & Toes

Don’t Forget Your Mittens Scarf Pattern from Pints & Purls

To celebrate the HUB and the success of our October location shoots, we’ve decided to have a contest! We’re going to give away a $75 HUB gift certificate and a couple of HUB t-shirts to one winner. To enter you must post a suggestion for a photoshoot location in the Portland/Vancouver Metro area. The person with the most creative/inspiring/awesome suggestion (as decided by me, Christina, Alison, Marci & Angela) will win the HUB loot. Even if you don’t drink or are under 21, you are still eligible. (The HUB makes their own delicious rootbeer and awesome grub–I sampled it.)

Other details:
-Deadline for posting a suggestion is midnight on 9/30
-We will PM the winner on 10/1 and they must respond with a mailing address for us to send the loot to.

I look forward to reading your suggestions!

PS: We’re looking for a colorful backdrop for our Winter catalog right now, so you get bonus points for lots of color and indoors.

PSS: The folks at the HUB had a good time too, and they would love to start hosting a regular knitting group. There’s lots of space, and a great cozy corner with cushions, a fireplace, and big windows. Let me know if you’re interested, and I can pass the info on to them. <
