Oh how I LOVE Kerin's new Light Basics collection. I can very clearly remember the minute we unpacked all of the knit samples in the office. As each garment came out we all reached out to touch the beautiful, springy fabric of each garment. I definitely gave the Light Basics Pullover an extra squeeze and even a little hug to with a big grin on my face because that Capretta (as I've said before) just knits up into SUCH A GORGEOUS fabric! Each piece in this collection is designed to be a simple, easy to knit and timeless addition to your wardrobe. |

Every once in a while there are still overcast mornings and chilly evenings this far into the summer months. I'm always packing a light sweater or shawl in my bag that I've either taken off after things warm up a bit or because I'm ready to pop one on during dinner or in a frigid movie theater. Quenna Lee's Reversible Basics is a whole collection of knits perfect for layering even in July! Each garment features a delightfully simple silhouette with sweet details. |

I'm pretty sure that I just took my crochet skills to a whole new level this past launch when I released my very first pattern (the Luminarie Cozy and Hanging Planter Pattern) as part of Knit Picks, for free! I can't tell you how excited I am to share what I've been tinkering with since we got our first samples of our new Curio crochet thread in the office. |

This week we have two adorable free patterns from the wonderful Natty Knits! First up is Baby's First Football. Surrounded all my life by football fans, I think this is adorable and wish I had it when I was making a few baby gifts a while back for some football families. Even if you're not a football fan, the size of the football is a great size for babies & small children to grasp and play with. |

Crafting started as something fun to do once in a while, like during a rainy day or on the odd vacation weekend. I have a few memories of making massive collages of tiny horses cut out of magazines, or sorting through a giant jar of buttons. That was all before I picked up a pair of knitting needles late in high school. From that moment on I needed to craft. It became a lifestyle. I knit in class, on the bus, during movies, on car rides to the store and especially in parks on nice days. |

Image from Timpani Ravelry pattern page. Hah! You thought it was going to be a pair of socks!! I recently spoke with Jen Lucas about her new book Sock-Yarn Shawls for an upcoming podcast. I loved the book and Jen’s enthusiasm got me excited to decide on one of her shawls for our trip to the east coast this weekend. |

Living in Oregon is a constant source of inspiration to me. But for my latest collection, Windswept, I went back to my New Jersey shore roots. |
