I’ve probably informed everyone so many times how much I love garter stitch projects (most recently here), and especially stripey garter projects. So this week’s free 12 Weeks of Gifting pattern is right up my alley – check out the Crevasse Mitts!
These sweet mitts have a unique construction – you knit on the bias to start, then joined to work in the round to the thumb hole, finally working flat for the palm. One the mitts are complete, there is a lovely little border added on the tops, the cuff and the thumb, which hides any color transition at the edges.
The striping sequence makes this mitts even more fun. I love the various stripe widths but these also look great in even stripes or try it in one color! Since they are knit up in Swish DK, you can come up with dozens of your favorite color combinations and the soft merino wool will make these a pleasure to wear.
I recently dug out all my fall/winter mitts and discovered that I have lost at least one lonely mitt from all the many pairs of fingerless mitts I’ve knit over the years so this pattern came along at the right time! If that is the case for you too, be sure to download this pattern quick – it’ll only be free until November 28! And check back here next week to see what our next freebie will be!
