Both novice and expert knitters will discover new and challenging knits for their next crafting excursions–the wilderness never felt so cozy!

Unisex Patterns

My favorite part of this book is the opportunity for unisex projects. All of the sweaters and vests have minimal to no waist shaping, making them a great fit for a male body.

Slade Pullover

Super warm and roomy, the Slade Pullover features clean lines, a sophisticated saddle shoulder, and a minimalist panel of seeded rib pattern. Its deep funnel neck can be drawn up close around the neck for extra warmth, while a kangaroo pocket with slanted inserts waits ready to warm chilled hands.

The Slade Pullover is worked in the round from the top down using raglan shaping. Sleeves are worked from the top down and feature a seeded rib panel. The pocket is knitted into sweater front. The funnel neck is worked upward from the neck stitches and finishes with a turned casing and I-cord drawstring. Sleeves and hem are edged in I-cord.

Wembley Sweater

Perfect for layering over light layers for extra warmth, the Wembley Sweater is a highly textured waffle stitch pattern that is paired with a classic silhouette. This warm and ruggedly textured sweater is worked from the bottom up; the body and sleeves are worked separately in the round. A 1×2 rib flows seamlessly into the easy-to-knit waffle stitch. Turn back cuffs and an overlapping V-neck band add sophisticated details to an otherwise simple sweater.

Bargeman

The Bargeman functional sweater is the epitome of Gansey. The simple construction and neutral color will keep this sweater in your closet for seasons to come.

Bargeman utilizes traditional Gansey construction: knit in the round from the bottom up, with the front and back upper body knit flat and joined at the shoulders with a 3-Needle Bind Off, the stitches for the sleeves are then picked up around the armholes and are knit down to the cuffs. The welt and cuffs are knit in garter stitch, as is the yoke. The collar is knit in stockinette stitch with a rolled edge. This garment is completely seamless and is created without any purl stitches.

Functional Accessories

The key to staying warm while adventuring in the winter is to keep your hands, feet, and head warm. Adventure Awaits has 8 lovely patterns that will keep you incredibly snuggly while still being super cute.

Oriel

Inspired by a traditional Siberian Trapper Hat, Oriel is a warm double-layer hat with large earflaps, a generous brim, and sturdy I-cord Ties.

Oriel is constructed by making two different hats separately. Make the outer hat first, and then make the inner hat. The hats are joined together through two processes: whip stitch on the cast on edge, and a unique edging that uses a combination of 3-Needle Bind Off and Applied I-Cord.

Ogee Hat and Scarf

Undulating ribbing flows over a field of garter stitch on the Ogee Hat and Scarf, with twisted stitches adding depth and texture as well as knitting interest. The fabric lies flat naturally, making a neat all-over scarf pattern and a cozy air-trapping hat. A cheery fringe and just the right amount of slouch make these the wearable winter accessories you’ll reach for every day.

The Ogee Hat is worked in the round from bottom up and features an optional pom-pom. The Ogee Scarf is worked flat and has the option of added fringe. Instructions for simple twisted stitches are given for both with cable needles and without.

Eye of Partridge Hiking Socks

The perfect socks to wear on outdoor adventures, Eye of Partridge Hiking Socks feature subtle textures that are fun to knit and keep your feet warm, but do not add unnecessary bulk to shoes or boots.

Eye of Partridge Hiking Socks are worked in the round from the cuff down, with a heel flap and gusset. The ribbing and Eye of Partridge patterns are worked over both front and back to the heel, then continued over the top of the foot to the toe; the insole is worked in stockinette stitch.

You can get the entire collection as a print book or eBook, or you can buy each pattern individually as a downloadable pdf.

On Oriel – the outer hat flap instructions don’t make sense to me. Is there a video or you tube that shows how to set up to work the flap?
