Win Our Newest Knit Collections!

Contest is now closed, we will announce the winners very soon!

During the hottest months of the year, I tend to gravitate to projects that use lightweight yarns or projects that use plant fibers rather my beloved wool. Luckily, our three newest collections cover all of those types of projects!

Heirloom laceSock Yarn ShawlsCotLin Collection

Heirloom Lace is perfect for those who love lace and love a challenge.  Need to use that gorgeous sock yarn you bought just because?  Sock Yarn Shawls is your book.  And the CotLin 2014 Collection is fantastic for those who still want to make stylish garments but don’t necessarily want to have a lapful of wool during those 90 degree days.

To kick start your summer knitting, we thought we have a little blog contest – simply leave a comment on this post, letting us know which is your favorite type of warm weather project!  We’ll randomly choose 3 winners & send each of them copies of all three books!

Rules: One entry per person. Must have a US or Canada mailing address. No purchase necessary. All comments must be posted on THIS blog post. Comments on other blog posts or on social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, G+, Ravelry, etc.) will not be valid for this contest. We will close the comments at 8am PST July 28th and select the winners soon after!

Sometimes I knit washcloths, and other times I just turn to one of my other hobbies: sewing!

  2. Fuego Azul / July 27, 2014

ANYTHING with lace is on my needles or hook! But I do enjoy a quick set of dishcloths, or a light shawlette/stole project. What a fun contest! Thank you for the opportunity!

  3. Betsy / July 27, 2014

I love to do small projects like dishcloths, scarves and fingerless gloves when it’s hot out. And linen, bamboo or cotton yarn (or blends) are my go to yarns. Yum!

  7. G. K. Green / July 26, 2014

My favorite warm-weather project for summer is a lightweight scarf or shawlette … something airy, knit on not-too-small needles, with an easily-memorized 2- or 4-row repeat … and that I can bind off and wear right away! Thanks for the giveaway!!!

whatever my current WIPs are! I’m such a slow crocheter/knitter and have so little time to craft (2 small children and a part-time job do a number on one’s free time) that I just have to keep moving onward with whatever I’ve got going at the time.

  41. Millisy / July 24, 2014

  42. Rhonda Perry / July 24, 2014

  63. Knitfrogknit / July 23, 2014

Small items that transport easily. However I must admit the ‘sock’ shawls look intriguing. All that sick yarn whose colors beckoned to me would disappear quicker in a shawl and leave room in my bins for MORR yarn!!

  78. Sheila / July 23, 2014

I like to knit small projects in the summer, so I don’t have a huge wip acting as a lapghan while I knit. Socks are one of my favorite summer projects, with the plus that they’re easily portable too.

In addition, as soon as a few other projects come off the needles, I plan on knitting a gorgeous yet simple cardigan with Stroll Tonal Sock Yarn, in the fruity Queen Anne colorway. With a few curly ruffles down the front, it will make the perfect lightweight top for warm-weather wear! Here’s the link to the pattern if anyone is interested. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/elsie-12

  169. Rachel / July 22, 2014

I’d love to make something like the Repose tunic in the CotLin book, but I’ve been nervous to take on a project of that size (an adult sweater)! Not because it’s summer, but because it would be a challenge. I do like the linen yarns.

  170. Tiffany / July 22, 2014

I’ve got a/c so I knit whatever I want all year round, usually shawls. But if I’m not in a/c then it’s socks. Light and not sitting in my lap.

  311. Delia Martin / July 22, 2014

I love to work with cotton or bamboo in the summer – anklets, shawls, t-shirts and toys for the wee ones in the family. I’m just finishing a lace-edged shawl in parchment coloured Comfy Fingering.

  312. Gina Colby / July 22, 2014

I love workng on fingerless mitts when the weather starts to cool down. 🙂

  313. Vicki suan / July 22, 2014

  314. Debby / July 22, 2014

Socks – easy to bring wherever you go!

  315. Chris Sheriff / July 22, 2014

Socks are really my favorite summer project – great for working on in the car and not too hot on my lap.

  316. Hope Jones / July 22, 2014

I love the Sock Yarn Shawls. The yarn makes them so pretty with hardly any work.

  317. Suzette Thompson / July 22, 2014

I just finished a lace cardigan with Cotlin and a lace shrug in Shine sport.

  318. Colleen / July 22, 2014

Socks and baby sweaters- small things that don’t fill my lap with too much wooly warmth.

  319. Robin / July 22, 2014

  321. Katy C / July 22, 2014

I love knitting light shawls and socks during the summer, and small projects that don’t overheat my lap in my non-air conditioned apartment. That being said, I’ve been working on a sweater for my husband in Knitpicks Comfy Worsted (because he is a serial felter of hand-knits). I save it for rainy days and cooler evenings when we watch movies together.

  322. Susan Coutts / July 22, 2014

I knit shawls all year long! Summer is for the laceweight cotton, silk or linen yarns and very open, delicate patterns 🙂

  323. Jennifer / July 22, 2014

When it comes to summer time knitting, I always have two projects on my needles. One large over sized lace shawl, and those small little projects that are destined to live underneath a Christmas tree such as hats, mittens, gloves, and even a scarf or two. This way, I have a project to keep my mind busy but I always have something to grab that require no mind or attention if I decide to go on a spur of the moment road trip or just need something to keep my occupied at a doctor’s office.

  324. Jan / July 22, 2014

Socks socks and more socks. They are fun and easy to transport. Sock yarn shawls would be a new adventure!

  325. Leslie / July 22, 2014

I love knitting lace shawls. They aren’t usually bulky enough to warm me up, and I love the end product. 🙂

  326. Manuelita White / July 22, 2014

Absolutely love this collection, especially the sock yarn shawls!

  327. Leigh Rohde / July 22, 2014

  341. Judy Willing / July 22, 2014

  342. Juliana / July 22, 2014

During the summer I like to knit small projects like hats and cowls. I love cold weather so much that I get ready for fall since July! However, cotton tees are great for warm weather, great to knit outside where there is no AC.

    Sock yarn shawls!!!

  344. Melissa / July 22, 2014

My favourite thing to knit in the summer is socks. I have started knitting lace so that would be another lightweight project.

  346. Kara / July 22, 2014

  353. Bridget / July 22, 2014

Favorite warm weather project… would have to be bikini festival tops. I also really love crocheting jewelry this time of year or trims for other garments.

  354. Stella / July 22, 2014

My favorite summer knitting project is anything experimental. I’m more likely to try a new and challenging pattern in the summer than in the winter. Weird? Maybe.

    Cotton socks!

  361. Jeannette / July 22, 2014

  375. Tish / July 22, 2014

My favorite warm weather projects are socks. They are small, so they don’t cover you up as you knit.

  376. Patsy Coats / July 22, 2014

    Hats and cowls

  377. Jennifer / July 22, 2014

    Small, quick knits. Lacy things.

I like to do blankets especially.

  389. Tiara / July 22, 2014

Shawls, definitely. The best part is that they require very little finishing. If I decide it isn’t the “perfect” item for me, they make great charity items too since they’re don’t seem to have ‘hard wear’ spots likes sweaters and socks.

  390. Barb Thames / July 22, 2014

I usually spend most of the summer days knitting lightweight shawls for summer wear. However, this year, my niece is getting married and they have just bought a new house. She needs kitchen towels, bath clothes, pillows, and such. I’m knitting the kitchen and bath items in CotLin and loving the way they’re turning out.

  400. Julie Murray / July 22, 2014

This summer, I’m working on little portable projects: hats, baby things and socks. I’m trying to use up a bunch of stash yarn.

  401. Shelagh Hanna / July 22, 2014

I love working with lace patterns. I really enjoy knitting up shawls. Ever since I knit my first one last year I have been hunting for the right pattern for my yarns.

  402. Charissa / July 22, 2014

I have been making toys and amigurumi in the summer months. The items are small so it is not too warm to work with.

  404. Danielle R / July 22, 2014

I like making socks in the summer.

  412. Savannagal / July 22, 2014

I don’t have a warm weather type of project. I usually switch types of garments throughout the year. I am knitting a wool sweater right now in 90+ degrees in Chicago. I also have socks and a shawl on my needles. I switch around like that all year. I enjoy all types of knitting at all times of the year. Thanks for the terrific giveaway.

I love knitting lacy shawls in the summertime. I usually make a few hats along the way too.

  415. Betty Wharton / July 22, 2014

I love working on smaller projects during the summer months. The Glass Knot Afghan is my current project as the squares are made individually and are very easy to transport. Also smaller shawl patterns work very well and usually knit up quickly and are easy to take along.

  416. Kelly Stephenson / July 22, 2014

I like socks – they’re nice and small and “seasonal.” I probably should be working on scarves or christmas projects, but it just doesn’t fit with sunshine and 90 degrees 🙂

Loving dishcloths for now…. Thinking shawls and afghans for cooler weather tho!

  420. Lori Biss / July 22, 2014

I love knitting lightweight scarves in the summer months, small to carry about while doing “the summer thing”. I am an avid lace knitter and always looking at patterns. I also love linen to knit with for top notch lace washcloths.

  421. Adina Montgomery / July 22, 2014

As long as there is air conditioning, I’ll knit anything!! Especially love lace!

  422. Maria / July 22, 2014

Since I live in Florida, all of my knitting is warm weather knitting! During the peak of the summer, I prefer small projects like hats since they don’t need to sit on my lap like a large project does.

My favorite project so far this summer has been a headband made out of CotLin. The gray I used is a nice cool color to balance out all of this warmth.

  423. Kay Spitler / July 22, 2014

I love making lacy items with sock weight yarns. The variety of colors make each item special.

  424. Linda / July 22, 2014

I’m still going with my shawl “obsession”. Nice and light and interesting enough to keep me coming back to the yarn.

  425. Monica / July 22, 2014

I love knitting for my kids in the summer. Most of them are still small, so they’re nice quick projects that can be on the go with our busy summers!!

  426. crystal woods / July 22, 2014

It doesn’t matter what it is, I love knitting. Right now I’m making a baby blanket with Dishie yarn.

  427. Meig / July 22, 2014

  437. Rebecca / July 22, 2014

Mitts and socks are always good for summer knitting. I also like sweaters with long stretches of don’t-have-to-pay-close-attention knitting. Fancy lacework may be good to wear in the summer, but I don’t love the knitting part in the heat.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  438. Rachael / July 22, 2014

I like knitting dishcloths. The are small, portable and easy to pick up and finish between the activities of summer.

  439. Sarah Clark / July 22, 2014

I’m working on a sock yarn super wash merino baby blanket. The warm weather has certainly slowed me down as having the finished part spread across my lap is less pleasant.

  440. Jennifer Morgan / July 22, 2014

Love doing socks at any time of the year!

  441. Kristina Vrooman / July 22, 2014

Love knitting all different things. Always seem to have multiple projects going at once. Infinity scarves are a go to item but have recently been exploring sweaters, a new venture for me.

  442. Janet B. / July 22, 2014

Right now I’m making my first sweater! I don’t have a particular warm weather project just whatever strikes my fancy. I can’t wait to knit another shawl though

  448. Janice Bittner / July 22, 2014

I love working with cotton/linen yarn, because I am allergic to wool. Some day I’m going to make something from silk yarn, and treat myself to a really nice item. 😀

  449. Ann Trautmann / July 22, 2014

I actually knit winter-wear in the summer, and summer wear in winter. This way, I have them ready, and am not stressed about finishing! (Yes, I just need more time to knit!)

Love working with linen, cotton and lightweight yarns year ’round, as I live in Florida

  464. Jennifer / July 22, 2014

I love knitting with cotton in the summer- I am working on a baby blanket and two cotton jumpers for my pregnant friends and their babies to be! I also love knitting hexipuffs, they are small and knit up so quick they don’t had any heat to my love of knitting in the summer!

  465. Lisa in TX / July 22, 2014

It’s hot most of the year, here. I knit a lot of socks because they’re always useful, and small/not all over the place.

  466. Jessica / July 22, 2014

    Love knitting shirts and blankets!

  467. LBJ / July 22, 2014

I am not a weather directed knitter. I knit whatever, whenever. I am always knitting and always have a project with me.

I love making cotton or linen tops/cardigans when it is warm out!

  469. Amanda S / July 22, 2014

  470. philippina wijtmans / July 22, 2014

I love the shawl in the sock yarn, it stripes up really nice. I love making shawls because the one size fits all.

  471. Joan / July 22, 2014

I like small project that travel easily and finish quickly.

  472. Elyse / July 22, 2014

Socks! Socks I really like knitting all year round, but they’re nice in the summer because they don’t cover my lap and make me die of heat. Sadly, I can’t actually wear them til fall or winter…. 🙁

  473. Crystal / July 22, 2014

I love socks and shawls for warm-weather knitting.

  474. Debbie Warnaar / July 22, 2014

I welcome new project ideas for knitting during grandkids’ summer activities!

  475. Karla Hartzell / July 22, 2014

My favorite would be heirloom lace!

  476. Mabel / July 22, 2014

I like shawls but a large shawl might get boring, so I also like to knit something smaller on the side, like a T-shirt (doing that now), baby shirt, or other things that use cotton or linen yarn! Love linen.

  477. Amy Mason / July 22, 2014

I have been making decorative linen and cotton scarves for this summer.

  478. Karen Brack / July 22, 2014

    I like light, lacy shawls.

  479. Virginia / July 22, 2014

I like to knit light weight shawls during the summer. I also like to get started on my Christmas knitting.

  480. dianna anderton / July 22, 2014

Little things like socks and dishrags.Stuff that won’t be a hot pile in my lap.

  481. Audrey / July 22, 2014

I like to have a variety of projects going so that I can pick depending on the day and the weather – always on the lookout for fun new things to knit!

  482. margaret price / July 22, 2014

Sweaters definitely……so hard…. afghans too… and socks….maybe scarves, hats and gloves…. I just love to knit!

  483. ann deveney / July 22, 2014

I just bought some Lindy Chain yarn to make a striped camisole……

  484. Theresa / July 22, 2014

I love to practice new stitches and techniques on kitchen and bath accessories, like hand towels and wash cloths.

  485. Geneva Hagelstein / July 22, 2014

I am enjoying the knitting community you are establishing with your website. I currently am working on Viking period pieces and laces. I hope to buy some books later when funds become available. 🙂

  486. Genevieve Parant / July 22, 2014

I mostly knit accessories with lightweight yarns.

  487. Renita / July 22, 2014

I like small things that don’t cover your lap, light fibers and knitting in cool places.

Booties and little hats are ideal.

  488. Angela Medina / July 22, 2014

I love knitting socks all year ’round!

  489. geri actor / July 22, 2014

My favorite warm-weather projects are mittens and gloves, making some right now ;-). Next is scarves, always a great gift.

  490. Melissa / July 22, 2014

I like to do small, fast stash-busting projects that will make nice Christmas gifts–makes me feel ahead when later fall comes around.

  491. Janet Rose / July 22, 2014

I love knitting with linen in the summer – I like designing airy, light, flowy tanks and camis and flowy light beachy sweaters and swim coverups

  492. Hayley Blackwell / July 22, 2014

I’m all about the scarfs and festive knitting as I’m still quite slow.

  493. Janet Raymond / July 22, 2014

I prefer to make those smaller sized projects during the hot months. Hats, mittens, scarves, children’s sweaters, all good items to have for gift giving once the colder weather arrives! I keep a small scale project in the car for the long drives to the cabin or while waiting at train and ferry crossings.

  494. Lauren / July 22, 2014

Small gift projects – amigurumi, potholders, cozies.

  495. Robin Brown / July 22, 2014

I might not knit an afghan in the heat of the summer but anything else that excites me is on the needles. A linen/cotton yarn might be the right yarn, love it all. Thanks so much for the chance to win these books.

  496. Anne Boner / July 22, 2014

In the summer? Small items, easy to knit in the car as we travel a lot. But if I see the ‘right’ yarn, I may start a larger project.

  497. Katie / July 22, 2014

Love making socks and light weight shawls when it’s hot!

  498. Karen T / July 22, 2014

I’ve been knitting shawls this summer. But I’ll knit whatever suits my fancy or whatever gift needs to be created.

  499. Katie / July 22, 2014

I like hats. They are small. In Florida keeping cool is very important in the summer time, so I can’t have heavy wool laying on my lap!

  500. Cathy / July 22, 2014

Socks! They are small and portable which makes them perfect for summer trips. I also have a shawl in progress for knitting at home.

  501. Roslyn / July 22, 2014

I make shawls in the warm weather.

  502. Lisa / July 22, 2014

Towels. Dish cloths. Baby clothes aren’t too warm on the lap while I’m doing them up!

  503. Megan U / July 22, 2014

I knit all the socks I want during the summer!

  504. Julie / July 22, 2014

ooh, what a great giveaway, I love all those collections! For me, summer knitting is all about shawls and cowls. And many a tank top for good measure! I also often start a fall sweater in August, and take my time with it- the cold weather always comes back around eventually. – Julie, knitbliss@gmail.com

  505. Jane Thayer / July 22, 2014

My favorite warm weather project is: knitting 8″ squares and winter hats for charities♥

  506. Cathy / July 22, 2014

I love to knit anything anytime but seem to gravitate towards light weight sweaters to wear in the winter.

  507. timiae / July 22, 2014

  510. Lisa smith / July 22, 2014

Dish cloths or whatever project I’m desperately trying to finish. Lol

  511. Dennise Cherkauer / July 22, 2014

Air conditioning rocks! Weeks on end in the high 90s. Anything goes inside.

  512. pat s / July 22, 2014

I’m working on a lace scarf and a blanket for my niece for a christmas gift!

  513. Courtney / July 22, 2014

I knit sweaters like crazy so I have them to wear all winter!

  514. Julie / July 22, 2014

I’m such a new knitter that I am only making hats right now, but a good project for warm weather because they are small.

  515. Alexandra / July 22, 2014

Any one of those collections would be awesome!

  516. Michelle Heath / July 22, 2014

Hmm.. well, this is the first summer since I’ve started knitting and right now I’m working on Christmas gifts.. so, in other words, nothing lightweight lol

  517. Lisa Petrovski / July 22, 2014

My favorite summertime projects are shawls and socks.

  518. Shana / July 22, 2014

I’ll knit anything in the summer– I keep the AC frosty so any fiber or size project is appropriate.

  519. Stephanie / July 22, 2014

“Small” projects that travel well and can be finished quickly. So, of course, I’m working on a linen stitch scarf. It has reach 32+ inches and I haven’t even finished the first skein!

  520. Carol S. / July 22, 2014

I usually knit smaller projects in the summer – hats, socks, etc. – and often for charity projects.

  521. Lori / July 22, 2014

In the summer I knit for winter – so blankets, cardigans, sweaters, etc. Thank goodness for A/C!

  522. Bonnie / July 22, 2014

I like knitting socks in the summer and I can also knit them in the car while traveling.

  523. Erin / July 22, 2014

I like making socks in the summertime, but this summer I’ve challenged myself to expand my work wardrobe by knitting some basic shells to go under suit jackets. The patterns all use fingering-weight yarn, so they’re not too heavy or warm for knitting in muggy weather.

  524. Kelsie / July 22, 2014

I will knit anything in summer but my favorites are shawls and socks.

  525. Lynn Thomas / July 22, 2014

I like doing smaller projects. Also like using cotton or bamboo.

  526. Karen Gladwin / July 22, 2014

I usually knit small or lightweight things during the summer –

  529. Tina Hainer / July 22, 2014

I’ll knit anything that catches my eye, but in summer I love getting ready for my winter knitting. Starting a big cardigan!

  530. Kindra / July 22, 2014

Because I live in a hot country where it’s not considered proper for women to wear short sleeves, my preference for summer knitting is lace. Something light and pretty to go over a top that isn’t appropriate to wear by itself.

  531. Ashley T / July 22, 2014

I love knitting all sorts of different projects and the lace book has piqued my interest.

  532. Andrea / July 22, 2014

My favorite projects in the summer are shawls. I usually have a couple on the go (a complex lace pattern plus something simple)

  533. haley / July 22, 2014

I don’t have a problem knitting wool and sweaters in summer but I end up being between projects and knitting a lot of dish cloths and little projects.

  534. Jessica / July 22, 2014

I love all forms of knitting in the winter–whether it’s hats, scarves, shawls, etc. I also love knitting up hexipuffs in between long term projects!

I love knitting socks in all weather!

  536. Patti / July 22, 2014

  537. Tricia Farwell / July 22, 2014

I love knitting socks in the summer.

  538. Taylor / July 22, 2014

  539. Margaret Edelson / July 22, 2014

I am in love with the Heirloom Lace… <3

  540. Kathleen Tamalonis / July 22, 2014

I am enjoying knitting the very easy Deviate shawl (free on Ravelry) in FOUR different fingering weight yarns, 3 as gifts and one for me! Love the assymetry, little bit of lace, and lightweight yarns. Looks great in either a solid color or tonals & multis.

  541. Arianne Baker / July 22, 2014

    Lace!!!

  542. Angela W. / July 22, 2014

I love lace…and shawls. I’m planning a few sweaters for sometime soon. Must…knit…everything! 😀 I’m not sure I have a preference for knitting types of items during different seasons. I just knit whatever catches my fancy next. 🙂

  543. Annalisa / July 22, 2014

Socks are perfect for knitting in the summer, and even if I’m wearing sandals all day in the Florida heat, I still usually throw on some socks for sleeping.

  544. Libby / July 22, 2014

I agree, regarding easy knitting for traveling and maybe smaller, like dishcloths and baby afghans.

  545. Kathi / July 22, 2014

I’ll knit anything in summer-whatever inspires me.

  546. Brandon Thomas / July 22, 2014

Summer or Winter, I knit whatever is tickling my fancy… Although I do tend towards smaller acessory items.

  547. Laura / July 22, 2014

I like to make baby blankets in the summer.

  548. Cynthia / July 22, 2014

    Lacy shawls/scarves with sock yarn.

  549. Delana / July 22, 2014

Lace, hands down! When the weather starts warming up, my thoughts turn to willowy confections made with the finest of yarns. I find my library filling up with books all about lace knitting, and my stash filling up with all kinds of scrumptious skeins.

  550. Sandy / July 22, 2014

I like socks in the summer

  551. Kayla BV / July 22, 2014

Easy knit with ligth yarn in this heat.

  552. Karyn Hantzmon / July 22, 2014

In summer I like knitting socks, scarves, and shawls:)

  553. Carly / July 22, 2014

I’m normally not a knitter. I love crocheting. In the summer I tend to stick to what I’m used to; hats and blankets. This summer is a special one since I have a friend who’s been trying for six years to get pregnant who finally achieved it, and who’s due in January. So I figured now was a great time to start making her tuns of little goodies for her little peanut. I could really use some new patterns, since I’m usually only ever crocheting, it would be awesome to have some knitting patterns that I could try my hand on.

  554. Jan Malone / July 22, 2014

I love knitting daily. Always looking for something new to make.

  555. Julie / July 22, 2014

Baby stuff! It is small and portable.

I like to work on sweaters over the summer – that way I’m ready for fall!

  557. Angela / July 22, 2014

Definitely sock knitting is my fave warm weather project. Compact, bright and fun. I’m even going to try putting my yarn in the fridge before I knit to see if it cools me down 🙂

  558. Jamie J / July 22, 2014

I’m loving making bags and anything out of cotton this summer.

  559. Ann Matson / July 22, 2014

If I’m outside or a passenger in the car, socks are my summertime project. If my husband resets the air conditioner to super cold (his favorite), I usually have a larger project to cozy up to (or under).

  560. Candra Sowder / July 22, 2014

I have been knitting gaiters because they are small and don’t require a lot of attention in traveling in the car and touristing in museums (where after looking at displays I sit and knit while waiting for my husband to read every word of every display!)

  561. Eileen Dalton / July 22, 2014

A lacy tank top in Cotlin!

  562. Alicia / July 22, 2014

I would love working on any of these new patterns!

  563. Janie H. / July 22, 2014

I am such a beginner that I still only knit blankets and hats. Not the best projects to work on in the summer. Several people mentioned light-weight scarves. What a great idea! I’ll have to invest in some light-weight yarn and try it out.

  564. Ellen / July 22, 2014

    Sweaters for the grands!

  565. Kathy McDowell / July 22, 2014

As a newbie knitter, I am just getting started with lace! Since it is usually knitted using light and airy fibers, I would think this would be an ideal summer project!

  566. Jennfer P / July 22, 2014

I love small projects! Hats, slippers, etc. light and wash to carry around for those road trips, beach days, or poolside!

  567. Sarah / July 22, 2014

Anything small is fine for summer.

  568. nicole / July 22, 2014

I like making sweaters. Heavy or light I just love sweaters.

  569. kathryn curry / July 22, 2014

Easy knitting while I am traveling.

  570. Stacy / July 22, 2014

I like making cotton dishcloths and dishtowels when it’s hot, but any smallish project is good. Of course, my current project is a sweater in a cotton blend, so “small” isn’t a hard-and-fast rule.

  571. Stephanie / July 22, 2014

I’m always trying to find something fun to make with my sock yarn, since I’m not the biggest fan of socks, and I love working with summer fibers, like cotton, bamboo, and linen. These patterns are fantastic!

  572. Kam / July 22, 2014

I like to work on anything with cotton. I like doing hats but am trying to learn how to do socks.

I like to work on small portable projects like washcloths or scarves.

  576. Demelza Thompson / July 22, 2014

  577. K. Mookini / July 22, 2014

I like doing lace-anything-and I enjoy being inspired by designs! To even consider “The Great Wave” in CotLin!

  578. Dolly Deslaurier / July 22, 2014

Lacy shawls always catch my interest and consequently my stash is filled with beautiful lace-weight yarns waiting in queue.

  579. Kate / July 22, 2014

    I’m learning to love lace!

  580. Debra Welch / July 22, 2014

I find it is a good time to start on Christmas presents. Although right now I am knitting an afghan for our house at the coast.

  581. Kristen / July 22, 2014

Lace is a great summer project!!

  582. Yuriko Hayashi / July 22, 2014

Sadly, my warm-weather projects are always intended for winter use. I love making hats and scarves, but will sometimes dive into a blanket.

  583. Judy / July 22, 2014

I like knitting for baby in the summer because they’re quick and small projects. I also like knitting shawls in the summer as these can usually be done with light weight yarn and are easily transportable.

  584. Danita Schwaller / July 22, 2014

I enjoy knitting socks and dishcloths in the summer. They’re light and don’t sit in my lap.

  585. Megan Richardson / July 22, 2014

I love any kind of knitting project, but since it has been hot, I’ve been working on scarves to put away for Christmas gifts!! Next, I’m going to work on trying some socks!

  586. Ashley MacLennan / July 22, 2014

Defying all logic, I’ve been working on two different afghan’s. Though the bigger they get and the more they’re in my lap, the more I regret not working on some nice socks.

  587. Cindy / July 22, 2014

I like to knit big lace projects and hats in the summer. I also knit socks or stuff to get ready for Christmas.

  588. Megan / July 22, 2014

I like to knit small projects in fingering weight or lace weight yarn…fingerless gloves, mittens, socks, etc.

  589. Grace S. / July 22, 2014

I love knitting lace in the summer but usually have a winter project on my needles too.

I love to knit lacy tanks and anything with bright colors!

  593. Toni / July 22, 2014

I love lacy accessories, from shawls to cowls to socks to even gloves. In the summer I make them from cotton or a blend if possible, but even a fine wool will do.

  594. Sharlene B. / July 22, 2014

I don’t have a warm weather/cool weather preference. I do whatever I feel like doing at the time. Right now I have 2 sweaters and a hat on the go

  597. Sonya / July 22, 2014

Baby knits. small quick and usually light weight.

  598. Carrie Fraser / July 22, 2014

Personally I knit a lot of warm weather stuff in the winter so I can wear them in the summer, in the summer I work on my winter sweaters/and scarves

  599. rebekah / July 22, 2014

I actually end up doing a lot of winter knitting during the summer. By the time I get the cardigan I’m currently working on done, it will be cold again and time to wear it! Ditto on the mittens I’ve got half done. I also like making socks during the summer – they’re light and very portable.

  600. Kayla / July 22, 2014

I like to knit shawls and socks in the summer, lighter yarn and easy to carry

  601. Elaine / July 22, 2014

I like to get a head start on Christmas gifts, before I get to December and realize that I’m way behind! I’m finishing up a cardigan for my mom right now, though, and I can say that sweaters are NOT among those things I like to knit in the summer. Too hot on my lap!

  602. Barbra / July 22, 2014

For summer I love to work with cottons or cotton blends. Also, hats no matter the yarn as they don’t sit on your lap.

  603. Alexis / July 22, 2014

Hats are a great summer project! Quick, easy to transport if you’re traveling, and you’re not draped in great swathes of wool.

Mindless and lightweight to enjoy the weather and just relax!

  605. Mandy / July 22, 2014

  606. Marisa Younker / July 22, 2014

Being a brand new knitter, I haven’t really done much of any kind. But I am really looking forward to knitting some lightweight shawls when it’s warm.

  607. Stephanie / July 22, 2014

Shawls are definitely my favorite warm weather projects because they are so versatile and perfect for a cool summer night! But I must say I have been enjoying making simple summer sweaters lately 🙂

Lace is always my favourite thing to knit, no matter what the season!

Socks! Anything small that won’t sit in my lap. Dishcloths are great, too.

In the summer i like making dishcloths because they are quick and easy, plus not too big that they hang on my lap

I love to knit lace in the summer…shawls, scarves, etc.

  614. CatherineMichelle / July 22, 2014

Most definitely has to be socks! Perfect for the Kansas heat and humidity in the summer time!

  616. Sarah / July 22, 2014

Socks! But then I always like making socks. I also like to spin in warm weather.

  617. Noemie / July 22, 2014

I still consider myself a beginner and just recently discovered the joy of shawls! Specially in sock weight. But I also made an awesome cowl in Billow, just for the satisfaction of starting AND finishing something, in between long projects. Oh, and I always go back to amigurumi in the summer!

  618. Muriel / July 22, 2014

I like to knit socks in the summer, anything bigger is just to heavy to have sitting on my lap!

  619. JustBec / July 22, 2014

My fave summer knit is socks, but I also enjoy making doll clothes and crocheting granny squares for some more instant gratification type projects. (Socks take me a decent amount of time.)

  620. Deb in NC / July 22, 2014

I love sock yarn and anything you can knit with it!! All 3 books look really great, a treat to have any of them.
