There is a lot to be said for simplicity: crisp hem and small gauge goes a long way in basic knitwear. The Light Basics collection features six sophisticated, classic designs that you can wear as staple, go-to garments, or modify with your favorite stitch or color patterns using the included knitting graph paper. Each of the garments is designed to be used with any fingering weight yarn, and can be worn separately or together.
This collection includes two simple accessories: The Garter Ridge Hat and the Garter Shawlette. These are exactly what they claim to be – simple Garter stitch and some basic shaping are all you need to make these sweet little projects.
The hat has options for different lengths from beanie to slouchy, and two edging options on the shawl add visual interest – or work your own favorite edging instead!
The four garments in the collection are simply tailored for a flattering fit from bust measurements of 32-64″. The applied I-cord edges on the scoop neckline and high armholes of the Basic Shell keep the edges flat and your undergarments invisible.
The Basic Tee also has I-cord edging on its high v-neck, and turned hems on the body and sleeves allow it to lay flat and smooth.
1×1 rib and a deep turtleneck add sophistication to the Basic Pullover. Subtle shaping and fine tailoring in the shoulders give this simple sweater a perfect fit. A folded crewneck option is also given.
To top off the collection, the Basic Cardigan works with any of the other included garments or your favorite blouses. It features folded hems at every edge, including the crewneck collar and front edges. Sewn buttonholes won’t strain or stretch from use, and the fine gauge of the work allows for smaller, lower profile buttons.
Each individual garment pattern, the eBook and printed version of the Light Basics collection includes Knitting graph paper and instructions on how to use it to modify and customize any of these designs. You can use each garment as a template, adding stripes, color work motifs, cables and textures to the already-existing shaping to create your own personal work of art. With so many fingering weight yarns to choose from, and with patterning options as endless as your imagination, the Light Basics collection will have you coming back time and time again for a whole wardrobe of possibilities!
