Do doctors make good knitters or crocheters? Has knitting ever seen you through a difficult personal or medical journey? We hear from Matt Petkun, CEO of KnitPicks, about how his uncle, an aspiring surgeon, inspired Matt to knit his first scarf. Then we speak to three podcast contributors about how they got through hard medical and personal times, as well as one listener’s journey to medical school, and how craft has helped all of them along.

What serendipity- this is the first KnitPicks podcast I’ve heard & it’s about medicine. As an M.D. myself, with a daughter in pre-med, and a mother who taught us both to knit, I can thoroughly agree & relate to it. Now, if only I could convince my Orthopedic Surgeon husband to take up some (knitting) needles and join the fun.

Interesting episode! I am a busy middle school teacher, so I look forward to getting to listen to podcasts on my afternoon walk. I was thinking it would be cool if you guys did an episode on teachers–not just those who teach knitting (which I do as well as being a homeroom teacher), but also people who use knitting to help deal with the ups and downs of teaching. Another topic that I think would be interesting is ex-pats and how their knitting habits have had to change or stay the same in their new countries of residence, and where they get yarn! Thanks for all your hard work; I enjoy listening.
