New Preciosa Colors

So we’re very sorry to have given you all heart attacks when you saw a few months ago that our pretty Preciosa was going away! We really wanted to update its look a little and give it a color refresh–and I think you’ll agree it was worth it! Check out these beauties.

New Preciosa colors from Knitpicks.

Preciosa is one of my favorite yarns–it’s ridiculously soft and perfect for next-to-skin wear. We went for soft tonal pastel colors that look fantastic, both by themselves or in multicolored projects.

If you’ve never used Preciosa, it’s a single-ply yarn that has a slight thick and thin texture, which give your projects a handspun look. Since it is so soft, it does tend to pill (as all super soft yarns will do), but working it at a tighter gauge will quell some of that pilling–as well as using a pill remover such as a Gleener. I personally love it for hats and cowls–I’ve made several of each as gifts for those who think wool is too itchy. And I love my own big cozy sweater I made in it!

I also knit myself the Broken Garter Cowl in the new color Sea Breeze. I love how the color plays wonderfully with the simple texture, and the whole project took less than a hank and maybe a couple of evenings of knitting. I plan on wearing this constantly as the winter months turn into spring!

Check out all the new colors HERE – and let us know what you think!

Which big cozy sweater pattern did you use with Preciosa? I’m looking for inspiration, here.

Hi Laura – I used the Sweater Book and made myself cardigan, a cross between the Moab Vest and the Napali Cardigan. It’s so cozy! – Stacey
