If you follow me on Twitter, you may have seen that I spent last week in one of my very favorite places in the world – Massachusetts!
I lived in MA for a couple of years and Boston (go Sox!) feels like my 2nd home. So when an idea of a trip to visit yarn stores came up, I jumped right on it. See my old friends and drink massive amounts of Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffee while going to a bunch of yarn shops? Sign me up!
I spent the week driving all over MA – from the Berkshires to the Cape Cod area to Boston & the North Shore – and seeing several shops that carry our needles & tools, as well as visiting some new-to-me shops. I got to meet a lot of really great shop owners and the stores were absolutly beautiful.
Sisters of the Wool in Westport is a large lovely shop with a huge wall of KnitPicks needles!
Rosanna of Giuliana’s Yarn Shop in New Bedford was so sweet…and her shop was adorable – in fact, my local friend ended up buying a sweater’s quantity of yarn while there!
JP Knit & Stitch in Jamaica Plain was a new-to-me shop that I absolutly loved since I like to sew as well…and they had some great yarn bombing outside the shop!
Of course, I had to buy some souviner yarn! (I mean, I visited 21 shops, it’s inevitable I’m going to buy yarn!)
Some of my favorites!
The bright cheerful yellow skein is from Stitch House in Dorchester – it’s one of their own house yarn, Rooftop Yarns. This is Stella, a gorgeous skein of 95% baby llama and 5% Stellina so it has a a lovely subtle sparkle to it. Plus it’s called Big Bird – how could I resist? The bulky weight yarn one next to it is from Colorful Stitches in Lenox and the colorway is Creative Quest – exclusively dyed for them by Lorna’s Laces. The final one is Tosh Sock by Madelinetosh in Chartreuse I purchased from one of my favorite shops I used to go to when I lived in MA, Seed Stitch Fine Yarns in Salem.
I had such a wonderful time (even with the heatwave out there at the time) and thank you to all the fantastic shops I visted – it was so much fun seeing all the shops that carry our needles!
Does your local yarn shop carry our needles? Give them a shout out our Facebook page! If not, they can email us at wholesale@knitpicks.com for more information!
