May News: New Hawthorne Colors, New Collections, and more!

At Knit Picks, this May is all about gorgeous new sock yarn colors, two fab collections (spoiler: one features SOCKS!), and a spectacular needle and hook sale!

New Hawthorne colors

Hawthorne, our best selling sock yarn, is all about those bold hand-painted hues–and this latest update is no exception!

New Hawthorne colorways, left to right: Sylvania, Brooklyn, Hayden, Jade District, Mississippi, Skyline, Foster Powell, Macadam, Mt. Scott, Lents, and Slabtown.

We’re so excited to see all of the projects created using this yarn (be sure to tag us on Instagram!). Need pattern inspiration? For socks, check out our new sock book! For sock yarn shawls, how about the Find Your Fade Shawl or the Diffusion Shawl?

New Collections

Outrageous Insteps

Featuring our fabulous selection of dye techniques in Stroll and Hawthorne sock yarns, Outrageous Insteps is just the collection to use on your most wildly dyed skeins! Create fun texture patterns in hand-painted many-colored yarns, mix and match solids and multis using stripe and slip-stitch patterns, or get a bit complex with twisty, turny cable designs. Whether you’re new to sock knitting or an expert, these 18 radical sock patterns are sure to be just the right fit for your outrageous stash!

The Helix Wiggles Socks, by Margaret Mills, are knit in Hawthorne and feature slip-stitch cables and spiraling stripes. Phinney Ridge Socks, by Allison Griffith, are the perfect project for our fabulous Stroll Tonal Mini Packs!

Pawtastic

Show the world how much you heart doggos by covering yourself with knitted pups! With Pawtastic, you can access-fur-ize your feet, keep your paws warm, or bundle up in a sweater or scarf decorated with colorwork puppos. You’ll also find a pillow for your home, and a couple of variations on adorable dog sweaters for your furry friends themselves!

The Angus Scarf, designed by Heddi Craft, showcases the beloved dog from Marjorie Flack’s classic children’s stories about a curious young terrier. It is worked in the round in two parts; each half begins at the ribbed edging and is worked to the center. There, the scarf is Kitchener stitched together, and then the fridge borders are added.

Humans shouldn’t be the only ones who get the pleasure of wearing your hand-knits! Dress your doggos in style with fun dog-themed motifs to keep their furry bodies warm. Or, use bold color for the solid version, for a quick and fun project for dressing your puppo–either way you knit it, the Grr Sweater, will be a hit!

This is just a small sampling of what each of our new collections has to offer. Check out the full listing of patterns on our site!

Needle Sale

We’re offering some pretty fantastic sales right now in needles and hooks! For a limited time, you can purchase any needle for at least 20% off. We figured some of you might be extra-excited about knitting up some socks, so we’ve placed all fixed circulars 30% off. And never fear, we didn’t forget you crocheters – all hooks are also 20% off.

Sale ends 6/11/19 at 11:59pm PT.
